ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [ZnCl(2)(C(20)H(20)N(2))], the Zn(II) atom is four coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by two N atoms of the Schiff base ligand and by two Cl atoms. Edge-to-face C-H?? inter-actions exist between mol-ecules, with a dihedral angle of 37.8?(1)° between the benzene ring planes and a shortest H?centroid distance of 3.62?(5)?Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [ZnCl(2)(C(16)H(18)Cl(2)N(2))], the asymmetric unit contains one mol-ecule and two half-mol-ecules, which have similar geometric parameters; in the latter two molecules each Zn atom lies on a twofold rotation axis. The environment about each Zn(II) atom is distorted tetra-hedral with coordination of two terminal Cl atoms and two N atoms of the N,N'-bis-(4-chloro-benz-yl)ethane-1,2-diamine ligand. Four N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a chain of R(2) (2)(8) rings in the [001] direction.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title mononuclear Ni(II) compound, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(8)H(12)N(2))(2)], contains two independent half-mol-ecules, the Ni atoms of which lie on crystallographic inversion centres. Each Ni(II) ion is chelated by two N atoms from two N-phenyl-ethane-1,2-diamine ligands and is also coordinated by two N atoms from two thio-cyanate ligands, giving a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a two-dimensional network parallel to (100) by N-H?S inter-actions.

Project description:In the title salt, [Zn(2)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(5)](ClO(4))(4), an ethyl-enediamine mol-ecule bridges two bis-(ethyl-enediamine)-zinc units; the five-coordinate Zn atoms show a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry that is distorted towards square-pyramidal (that of one Zn atom is distorted by 12% and that of the other by 34%). The perchlorate ions are all disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio. The cation inter-acts weakly with the anion by N-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.

An intra-molecular C-H?I hydrogen bond forms a five-membered ring, producing an S(5) ring motif. The C=N bond is coplanar with the benzene ring and adopts a trans configuration. Within the mol-ecule, the planar units are parallel, but extend in opposite directions from the dimethyl-ene bridge. An inter-esting feature of the crystal structure is the short I?N [3.2096?(15)?Å] inter-action, which is significantly shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of these atoms. Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(H(2)NCH(2)CH(2)NH(2))(3)](CF(3)COO)(2), the environment of the Cu atom is distorted octa-hedral, formed by six N atoms from three chelating ethane-1,2-diamine ligands. The Cu-N distances range from 2.050 (2) to 2.300 (2) Å. This complex cation and the two trifluoro-acetate anions are connected by weak N-H⋯O and N-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework. In both anions, the F atoms are disordered over two positions; in one the site-occupancy factors are 0.55 and 0.45, in the other the values are 0.69 and 0.31.
