(4-Hydroxy-methyl-1H-imidazole-?N)bis-(tri-tert-butoxy-silanethiol-ato-?O,S)cadmium(II).

ABSTRACT: The Cd(II) atom in the title compound, [Cd(C(12)H(27)O(3)SSi)(2)(C(4)H(6)N(2)O)], is penta-coordinated by two O and two S atoms from the O,S-chelating silanethiol-ate residue and one N from the 4-hydroxy-methyl-imidazole ligand and shows a strongly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The title complex is isostructural with its zinc analog. The hydroxy group of the ligand is involved in intra-molecular O-H?S hydrogen bonding and also acts as an acceptor in the formation of an inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond, which links mol-ecules of the complex into zigzag chains parallel to the b axis. One of the tert-butyl groups is disordered over two orientations with occupancies of 0.557?(12):0.443?(12).

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)], the Cd(II) atom is coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two bidentate chelating 4-methyl-benzoate ligands, two N atoms from two imidazole ligands and one water mol-ecule in a distorted penta-gonal bipyramidal geometry. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecule and the carboxyl-ate O atoms of 4-methyl-benzoate lead to an infinite chain. These chains are further self-assembled into a two-dimensional layer through N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the imidazole ligands and carboxyl-ate groups. One of the imidazole ligands is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.737?(4) and 0.263?(4).

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(8)O(5))(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized by the reaction of 7-oxabicyclo-[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride, cadmium acetate and imidazole. The Cd(II) atom is seven-coordinated in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal configuration by five O atoms from carboxyl-ate groups of three 7-oxabicyclo-[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylate ligands and two N atoms from two imidazole ligands. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding and C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cd(2)Cl(4)(C(5)H(8)N(2))(3)](n), contains two Cd(II) cations, three 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligands, and four Cl(-) anions. The two Cd(II) atoms have quite different coordination environments: one is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms and two N atoms from two 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligands, and the second is in a severely distorted fivefold coordination by four Cl atoms and one N atom from a 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand. Adjacent Cd(II) cations are inter-connected alternately by pairs of chloride bridges, generating an infinite step-like chain along the a axis. One ethyl group of the 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand is disordered over two sets of sites with a 0.668?(13):0.332?(13) site-occupancy ratio.

Similarly, the C-O bond distance of 1.260?(2)?Å in the heteroaromatic ring indicates delocalization between the deprotonated hydr-oxy group and the pyridinium ring. The uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atom links with the imidazole and pyridinium rings of adjacent mol-ecules via N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonding, leading to a two-dimensional array parallel to (100).
