ABSTRACT: The Fe atom of the title compound, [Fe(C(12)H(9)ClNO(2))(2)], lies on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. The Fe(II) atom is four-coordinated in a tetra-hedral geometry by the O and N atoms of the two Schiff base ligands. The O atom of the furan substituent in the ligand unit is not involved in coordination to the Fe atom.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(14)H(12)ClN(2)O)(2)Cl(2)], is a copper(II) dimer where the metal centres are bridged by O atoms from a 5-chloro-salicylaldehyde group. The coordination geometry of each copper(II) centre is distorted square-pyramidal, with two N atoms from a 2-ethyl-amino-pyridine group and two O atoms from a 5-chloro-salicylaldehyde group occupying the basal positions, and with a Cl atom at the apical position. The dimer is centrosymmetric, with a crystallographic inversion centre midway between the two Cu atoms [Cu⋯Cu = 3.103 (9) Å].

Project description:The title compound, [Cu2(C9H10NO2)4], is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The Cu(II) atoms are each five coordinated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands that are bonded differently to the metal atoms. Of the two phenolate O atoms, one is coordinated to one Cu(II) atom, whereas another bridges the two metal atoms. The basal plane of the square pyramid around Cu(II) atoms is formed by the imino N and phenolate O atoms of the bidentate and the monodentate/bidentate Schiff base ligands. The bridging phenolate oxygen occupies the apical position of the coordination sphere with a considerably longer Cu-O bond length. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules pack relative to each other in such a way that the Cu2O2 planes of adjacent dimers are orthogonal.

Project description:The title mononuclear nickel(II) complex, [Ni(C(9)H(9)ClNO(2))(2)]·H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of 5-chloro-salicyl-aldehyde, 2-amino-ethanol and nickel nitrate in methanol. The Ni atom is six-coordinated by two phenolate O, two imine N and two hy-droxy O atoms from two crystallographically different Schiff base ligands, forming an octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(12)H(9)N(2)O)(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)], contains two independent (2-formyl-phen-olato){2-[(pyridin-2-yl)imino-meth-yl]phenolato}copper(II) mol-ecules that form pseudocentrosymmetric dimers via inter-actions between the Cu and pyridyl N atoms of independent monomers. The square-planar geometry of the Cu atoms in the monomer thus becomes square-based pyramidal in the dimer. The crystal studied was an inversion twin, with unequal populations of 0.353?(17) and 0.647?(17).
