ABSTRACT: The six-membered thio-pyran ring in the title compound, C(24)H(20)S, adopts a flattened boat conformation, with the S atom displaced by 0.273?(2)?Å and the 3-methyl-ene C atom by 0.294?(3)?Å from the plane of the other four sp(2)-hydridized C atoms. The methyl group on the methyl-ene carbon lies in a axial position with the phenyl equatorial.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(25)H(22)OS, comprises two similar 4-(4-methoxy-phen-yl)-4-methyl-2,6-diphenyl-4H-thio-pyran mol-ecules. In each, the six-membered thio-pyran ring adopts a planar conformation (r.m.s. deviation of 0.041Å for the ring in one mol-ecule and 0.008?Å in the other). The methoxy-phenyl substituent is in a pseudo-axial position. The crystal studied is an inversion twin, with a domain ratio of 0.39?(6).

The Cu(I) atom has a distorted tetra-hedral coordination. The O-Cu-O angle is 80.07?(8)° and the P-Cu-P angle is 123.49?(3)°. The crystal packing is stablized by intra-molecular C-H?O inter-actions and inter-molecular C-H?O and O-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(6)H(6)O(3), is a member of the pyrone family. The mol-ecules are planar (r.m.s. deviation of the asymmetric unit is 0.0248?Å, whereas that of the dimer is 0.0360?Å) and they are dimerized due to inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The dimers are connected to each other through hydrogen bonds involving the CH(3) group and the hydr-oxy O atom. There are ?-? inter-actions between the centroids of the pyrone rings at a distance of 3.8552?(13)?Å. A C-H?? inter-action also exists between the carbonyl group and the centroid CgA of the pyrone ring, with O?CgA = 3.65?(1)?Å and C?CgA = 4.363?(2)?Å.
