ABSTRACT: In the dimeric title compound, [Zn(2)(C(14)H(9)O(4))(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Zn(II) ions are penta-coordinated by one 2,2'-bipyridyl ligand and by three O atoms from three 2'-carboxyl-atobiphenyl-2-carboxylic acid ligands. Two of the 2'-carboxyl-atobiphenyl-2-carboxylic acid ligands act as bridging ligands and, together with two zinc(II) cations, produce an 18-membered ring system. The remaining 2'-carboxyl-atobiphenyl-2-carboxylic acid ligands work as monodentate ligands. The crystal packing diagram is consolidated by O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear mol-ecule of the title compound, [Cd(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Cd(2+) ion is coordinated by three O atoms from two different diphenyl-dicarboxyl-ate (dpa) ligands (one O,O'-bidentate and one monodentate), a chelating bipyridine ligand and a water mol-ecule, generating an extremely distorted trigonal-prismatic (or irregular) CdN(2)O(4) coordination geometry for the metal ion. The bridging ligands generate an 18-membered ring, which is stabilized by two pairs of intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Each Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by three O atoms from two biphen-yl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate anions, one aqua O atom and two N atoms of a 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand. Intramolecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water molecules and the carboxylate O atoms are also present.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Co(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two O atoms from two biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate (2,2'-dpa) ligands in a distorted planar geometry. Longer Co-O contacts [2.437?(3) and 2.552?(3)?Å] are formed to the second O atom of each coordinated carboxyl-ate group so that these groups approximate a bidentate coordination mode and the coordination geometry around Co(II) approaches distorted octa-hedral. The 2,2'-dpa ligands bridge two Co(II) atoms, forming a cyclic dinuclear complex around a centre of inversion.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], was obtained by solvothermal synthesis. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two carboxyl groups from different biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, leading to a distorted octahedral environment. Each carboxyl-ate group makes one short Cu-O bond [1.9608?(14) and 1.9701?(14)?Å] and one longer Cu-O contact [2.4338?(17) and 2.5541?(17)?Å] to each Cu(II) atom. The biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands bridge between Cu(II) atoms, forming a dinuclear complex around a crystallographic inversion centre.

Project description:The title six-coordinated distorted octa-hedral complex, [Cu(C(6)H(3)N(2)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·2H(2)O, consists of two 3-carboxy-pyrazine-2-carboxyl-ate anions and one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand. There is a twofold rotation axis positioned at the Cu(II) center. The N atoms of the pyrazine ring occupy the axial positions and two proton-transferred O atoms of tbe acid together with the two N atoms of the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand complete the equatorial plane. The inter-actions existing in the crystal structure are inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and C-H⋯O and C-O⋯π inter-actions (O⋯π =3.145 Å, C-O⋯π = 149.75°).

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(5)H(3)O(2)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Cu(II) atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal environment, with an Addison ? parameter of 0.07. The coordination geometry is defined by two nitro-gen donors from the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, two O atoms from two monodentate thio-phene-2-carboxyl-ate ligands and one O atom from the aqua ligand. The latter occupies the elongated apical position. This is different from the related structure of aqua-(1,10-phenanthroline)bis-(thio-phene-2-carboxyl-ato)copper(II) where a carboxyl-ate O atom is in the apical position [Feng et al. (2005 ?). Z. Kristallogr. New Cryst. Struct.220, 429-430]. The uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms form intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds to the aqua ligand. Two neighbouring 2,2'-bipyridine ligands form a ?-stack, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.683?(2)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, {[Mn(3)(C(10)H(5)O(7))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. Six carboxyl-ate groups of six 5-(carboxyl-atometh-oxy)benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate anions (OABDC(3-)) join three Mn(II) ions into a trinuclear centrosymmetric [Mn(3)(?(2)-COO)(6)] unit with one Mn site situated on a centre of inversion. The latter Mn(II) ion exhibits a distorted MnO(6) coordination, whereas the other Mn(II) ion has a trigonal-bipyramidal MnN(2)O(3) coordination environment resulting from three carboxylate O atoms and the two N atoms of the bipyridine ligand. Adjacent units are linked to each other by OABDC(3-) ligands into a layer parallel to (010). Within the layer, O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the uncoordinated and half-occupied water mol-ecule and the free carboxyl-ate O atoms are observed. The layers stack along [010], constructing a three-dimensional structure through ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.473?(5)?Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of title compound, [Cd(C(9)H(6)NO(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·2H(2)O, consists of one complex mol-ecule, one half of an uncoordinated 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule and two solvent water mol-ecules. The uncoordinated 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule is located on a center of symmetry. Within the complex mol-ecule, the Cd(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and three O atoms from two 1H-indole-2-carboxyl-ate anion ligands, completing a distorted CdN(4)O(3) penta-gonal bipyra-mid. The mol-ecules are assembled into one-dimensional chains along the [100] direction through classical hydrogen bonds (O-H?N, N-H?O and O-H?O). The resulting chains are further connected into two-dimensional supra-molecular layers parallel to the (110) direction by inter-molecular classical hydrogen bonds (N-H?O and O-H?O) from adjacent chains. A three-dimensional supra-molecular network is formed via interlayer and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.
