ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(15)H(17)NO(2)S, the aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 32.8?(1)°. The ethyl group and phenyl ring on the N atom adopt a staggered conformation with respect to the O atoms.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(7)H(9)NO(2)S, was previously determined from powder diffraction data [Tremayne, Seaton & Glidewell (2002). Acta Cryst. B58, 823-834]. It has now been refined to a significantly higher precision. The amino N-atom is bent with a C-C-S-N torsion angle of -65.8?(2)deg;. In the crystal, mol-ecules are packed into a three-dimensional framework/supramolecular structure through hydrogen bonds between the two H atoms of the sulfonamide group and sulfonyl O atoms of neighbouring mol-ecules.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Ru(C(10)H(15))(C(7)H(9)NO(2)S)]C(24)H(20)B, has been determined as part of our investigation into the structural and biological properties of organometallic Ru(II)-arene-Cp* complex salts of the type [R-PhRuCp*](+)·X(-) (where Cp* is penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-diene). Tethering the RuCp* group to the benzene ring of p-toluene-sulfonamide results in only minor changes to the mol-ecular geometry of the sulfonamide, but, together with crystallization as the [BPh(4)](-) salt, effectively blocks involvement of the sulfonamide group in N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding networks.

Project description:There are two symmetry-independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(13)H(19)NO(3)S. The cyclo-hexane rings in the two mol-ecules adopt chair configurations. The hydr-oxy and amino groups on the cyclo-hexane ring assume axial and equatorial orientations, respectively, with respect to the plane of the ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by two inter-molecular N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds from the two symmetry-independent mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the crystal structure of the title compound, C(14)H(15)NO(2)S, contains two mol-ecules. The conformations of the N-C bonds in the C-SO(2)-NH-C segments of the structure have trans and gauche torsion angles with the S=O bonds. Furthermore, the torsion angles of the C-SO(2)-NH-C groups in the two mol-ecules are 46.1?(3) (glide image of mol-ecule 1) and 47.7?(3)° (mol-ecule 2). The ortho-methyl groups in the sulfonyl benzene ring are oriented away from the S=O bonds. The two benzene rings are tilted relative to each other by 67.5?(1) and 72.9?(1)° in the two mol-ecules. N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds pack the mol-ecules into one-dimensional chains in different directions, resulting in a two-dimensional network.

In the crystal, the molecules are linked into inversion dimers by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The unit cell of this compound was reported previously [Oh et al. (1985 ?). Chung. Kwa. Yong. (Chung. J. Sci.), 12, 67] but no atomic coordinates were established in the earlier study.

The amide H atom and the nitro group O atom form an intra-molecular hydrogen bond, generating an S(7) motif. In the crystal, C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions link the mol-ecules into S(2) (2)(10) networks.
