3-Mesityl-2-oxo-1-oxaspiro-[4.4]non-3-en-4-yl benzoate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(24)H(24)O(4), a derivative of the potent insecticide and miticide spiro-mesifen, one cyclo-pentane C atom is disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.574?(12) and 0.426?(12), resulting in respective envelope and twisted conformations for the cyclo-pentane ring. The atom at the flap position is 0.620?(5)?Å out of the mean plane formed by the other four atoms of the envelope form. The furan ring makes dihedral angles of 68.26?(3) and 69.38?(2)°, respectively, with the 2,4,6-trimethyl-phenyl and benzene rings. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 62.27?(3)°.

Project description:The title compound, C(24)H(23)ClO(4), is a potent insecticide and miticide. The five-membered cyclo-pentane ring displays an envelope conformation with the atom at the flap position 0.611 (2) Å out of the mean plane formed by the other four atoms. The furan ring makes dihedral angles of 71.3 (2) and 81.9 (2)°, respectively, with the 2,4,6-trimethyl-phenyl and 4-chloro-phenyl rings. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 76.6 (1)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains running along the c axis.

Project description:The title tetronic acid derivative, C(20)H(23)ClO(4), which is a spiro-diclofen analogue, has two crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit (Z' = 2). The cyclo-hexane rings in the respective mol-ecules A and B adopt chair conformations [four C atoms are planar with mean deviations of 0.013?(2) and 0.001?(2)?Å, and the flap positions deviate by 0.653?(4) and -0.663?(3)?Å (mol-ecule A) and 0.642?(4) and -0.643?(5)?Å (mol-ecule B) from the plane]. The furan ring makes dihedral angles of 86.9?(1) (mol-ecule A) and 85.4?(1)° (mol-ecule B) with the respective benzene rings.

Crystal structure of 5-[(benzo-yloxy)meth-yl]-5,6-dihy-droxy-4-oxo-cyclo-hex-2-en-1-yl benzoate.

Project description:The crystal structure of the natural product zeylenone, C21H18O7, was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure has three chiral centers at positions C1, C5 and C6 of the cyclo-hexa-none ring, but the absolute configuration could not be determined reliably. The methyl benzoate and benzo-yloxy substituents at positions C1 and C5 of the cyclo-hexenone ring are on the same side of the ring with the dihedral angle between their mean planes being 16.25 (10)°. These rings are almost perpendicular to the cyclo-hexenone ring. The benzoate groups and two hydroxyl groups on the cyclo-hexenone ring form strong hydrogen bonds to consolidate the crystal structure. In addition, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds also contribute to the packing of the structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C17H12O4, consists of two independent mol-ecules. The chromen-2-one ring and the 4-methyl-benzoate side chain are inclined to one another at a dihedral angle of 64.79 (10)° in one mol-ecule and 88.3 (1)° in the other. In the crystal, mol-ecules form R 2 (2)(8) centrosymmetric dimers via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
