ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(6)H(10)N(3) (+)·C(5)H(6)O(6)P(-), the cation and anion are linked by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds. There are additional inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds, which generate centrosymmetric tetramers of two cations and two anions.

In the crystal, adjacent ions are linked by weak N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds involving the pyrimidine and amine N atoms, forming a three-dimensional network. C-H⋯π inter-actions between the methyl and pyrimidine groups and π-π stacking [centroid-centroid distance = 3.474 (1) Å] between parallel pyrimidine ring systems are also observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C4H5FN3O(+)·C6H4NO3 (-), contains one 4-amino-5-fluoro-2-oxo-2,3-di-hydro-pyrimidin-1-ium (5-fluoro-cytosinium, 5FC) cation and a 3-hy-droxy-picolinate (3HAP) anion. The 4-amino-5-fluoro-2-oxo-2,3-di-hydro-pyrimidine mol-ecule is protonated at one of the pyrimidine N atoms. The typical intra-molecular N-H⋯F and O-H⋯O S(5) and S(6) hydrogen-bond ring motifs are observed in the cations and anions. The protonated N atom and 2-amine group of the 5FC cation inter-act with the 3HPA anion through a pair of nearly parallel N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a robust R 2 (2)(8) ring motif. The ions are further linked by N-H⋯N, O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating R 2 (2)(7), R 3 (3)(12) and R 6 (5)(18) ring motifs, respectively, leading to supra-molecular wave-like sheets parallel to (010). The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions, generating a three-dimensional architecture.

In the crystal, cation-anion hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving pyrim-idine-carb-oxy N(+)-H?O and amine-carb-oxy N-H?O pairs give a cyclic R 2 (2)(8) motif while secondary N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the aniline group and both sulfone and nitro O-atom acceptors give a two-dimensional structure extending in (001).

In the sulfonamide mol-ecule, the aromatic rings are almost perpendicular to one another [dihedral angle = 75.01?(8)°]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected into a three-mol-ecule aggregate via amide-DABCO N-H?N hydrogen bonds, and these are connected into a three-dimensional architecture via amino-DABCO N-H?O and amino-pyrimidine N-H?N hydrogen bonds.

No ?-? inter-actions were noted between the benzene rings.
