The molecular mechanisms regulating noncanonical protein transport across cellular membranes are poorly understood. Cross-presentation of exogenous antigens on MHC I molecules by dendritic cells (DCs) generally requires antigen translocation from the endosomal compartment into the cytosol for proteasomal degradation.
