ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(2)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7) (-), the dihedral angles between the mean planes of the three nitro groups and the benzene ring are 63.5?(3), 10.5?(2) and 10.4?(2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H?O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional network parallel to (001).

In the crystal, N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the cation and anion along with weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds produce chains along the b axis. C-H?O hydrogen bonds connecting the chains are also present.

Both [PF(6)](-) anions are disordered [occupancies 0.65?(2):0.35?(2) and 0.59?(5):0.41?(5)]. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?F hydrogen bonds which link two mol-ecules, forming centrosymmetric dimers.

Project description:The title compound, C(20)H(22)N(6) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), was prepared by the reaction of 5,5'-bis-(bromo-meth-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine with 1-methyl-imidazole. The main mol-ecule lies on an inversion center located at the mid-point of the C-C bond joining the two pyridine rings. The asymmetric unit therefore contains one half-mol-ecule and one hexa-fluoro-phosphate anion. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and imidazole rings is 76.93 (7)°. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds contribute to the stabilization of the packing.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title proton-transfer compound, CH(6)N(3)O(+)·C(7)H(4)NO(4) (-), O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds are formed respectively between the cations and the anions, each component affording a supra-molecular chain along the c axis. The cation and anion chains are further linked by N-H?O and N-H?N hydrogen bonds. A ?-? inter-action is also observed between the pyridine rings; the inter-planar separation and the centroid-centroid distance are 3.3425?(6) and 4.6256?(11)?Å, respectively.

Project description:The title compound, C(10)H(24)N(6)O(4), is the most stable type of nitric oxide (NO) donor among the broad category of discrete N-diazeniumdiolates (NO adducts of nucleophilic small molecule amines). Sitting astride a crystallographic inversion center, the molecule contains a symmetric dimethylhexane-1,6-diamine structure bearing two planar O(2)-methylated N-diazeniumdiolate functional groups [N(O)=NOMe]. These two groups are parallel to each other and have the potential to release four molecules of NO. The methylated diazeniumdiolate substituent removes the negative charge from the typical N(O)=NO(-) group, thereby increasing the stability of the diazeniumdiolate structure. The crystal was nonmerohedrally twinned by a 180 degrees rotation about the real [101] axis. This is the first N-based bis-diazeniumdiolate compound with a flexible aliphatic main unit to have its structure analyzed and this work demonstrates the utility of stabilizing the N-diazeniumdiolate functional group by methylation.

Project description:In the title salt, C(6)H(10)N(3)O(+)·C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7) (-), the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the benzene and pyridine rings is 3.1?(1)°. In the cation, the meth-oxy group is almost coplanar with the pyridine ring [C-O-C-N = -0.6?(2)°]. The p-nitro [C-C-N-O = -1.17?(19)°] and one o-nitro [C-C-N-O = 1.83?(19)°] group in the anion are essentially coplanar with the benzene ring. The other disordered o-nitro group containing the major occupancy [0.868?(6)] O atom is twisted -29.0?(2)° from the mean plane of the benzene ring. A bifurcated N-H?(O.O) hydrogen bond and weak C-H?O intermolecular inter-action between the cation and anion produce a network of infinite O-H?O-H?O-H chains along the c axis in the [101] plane which helps to establish crystal packing. Comparison to a DFT computational calculation indicates that significant conformational changes occur in the free state.
