ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(C(16)H(20)N(2)S(2))(H(2)O)](NO(3))(2)·CH(3)CN, the Cu(II) atom displays a distorted square-pyramidal coordination, in which a water mol-ecule occupies the apical position and the basal plane is formed by two N atoms and two S atoms of a 1,8-bis-(pyridin-2-yl)-3,6-dithia-octane ligand. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C(6)H(20)N(4) (2+)·2I(-), comprises half a 3,6-diaza-octane-1,8-diaminium dication plus an I(-) anion. The dications are symmetrical and lie across crystallographic centres of inversion. In the crystal, the ions form a network involving mainly weak N-H?I inter-molecular inter-actions: two H atoms of the ammonium group form inter-actions with two I(-) anions and the H atom of the secondary amine forms a weak inter-action with a third I(-) cation. The third ammonium H atom is hydrogen bonded to a secondary amine of an adjacent cation. The backbone of the cation does not form a uniformly trans chain, but is 'kinked' [C-N-C-C torsion angle = 71.5?(2)°], probably to accommodate the direct hydrogen bond between the ammonium group and the secondary amine in an adjacent cation.

Project description:The title compound, C(10)H(10)N(3) (+)·NCS(-)·CH(3)CN, is the acetonitrile solvate of the thio-cyanate salt of protonated dipyridin-2-yl-amine. Protonation occurs at one of the pyridine N atoms. The mol-ecular geometry around the central N atom is essentially planar (sum of angles = 359.89°). In the crystal, N-H?N hydrogen bonds, as well as C-H?S contacts link the different residues into chains along the c-axis direction. Inter-action between aromatic systems gives rise to ?-stacking, the shortest distance between two ?-systems being 3.6902?(6)?Å. Both the protonated and the non-protonated pyridyl groups are involved in the latter inter-action.

The dinuclear copper complex is located on a crystallographic inversion centre. The Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry, with one O atom of a succinate dianion and three N atoms of a 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and a water O atom located at the apical site. In the crystal structure, O-H?O hydrogen bonding links the mol-ecules into a chain parallel to the a axis.

Project description:The title complex, {[Cu(C21H13N5S2)]PF6·CH3CN} n , was formed immediately on adding together a methanol solution containing copper(I) ions and a methanol solution of 2,6-bis-[4-(pyridin-2-yl)thia-zol-2-yl]pyridine. Crystallographic studies of the complex reveal a coordination polymer with the ligand acting as a bis-(bidentate) ligand with the pyridine N atom not coordinating a metal centre. The Cu(I) atom is four-coordinate with approximately tetra-hedral stereochemistry: the N4 donor set is provided by bipyridine-like moieties of the two heterocyclic ligands. Parallel chains of the coordination polymer run along the b-axis direction with the disordered (0.50:0.50 occupancy ratio) PF6 (-) anions and acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules located between the chains.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, [Cu(C12H8N2)2(H2O)](NO3)2, is a new polymorph of a compound which up to now has been reported to crystallize space groups in C2/c and Cc. The crystal studied was twinned by non-merohedry (final BASF factor of 0.40043) with the structure being solved and refined in P-1. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and an O atom from a water mol-ecule in an approximate trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. Discrete entities of one cation and two nitrate anions are formed by water-nitrate O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The components are further assembled into a three-dimensional network by C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The dication possesses pseudo-twofold rotational symmetry. The penta-coordination of each Cu(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with two N donors from a phenanthroline ligand and two carboxyl-ate O atoms occupying basal sites and the apical position being occupied by a water mol-ecule. In the crystal packing, mol-ecules are linked to form a three-dimensional framework by O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances of 3.6039?(15), 3.5301?(15), 3.6015?(15), 3.6496?(15) and 3.6858?(15)?Å].

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(18)H(14)N(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](NO(3))(2)·1.49H(2)O, the Zn(II) atom, lying on an inversion center, is coordinated by two N atoms from two N,N'-bis-(pyridin-3-yl-methyl-idene)benzene-1,4-diamine ligands and four water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The nitrate anion is disordered over two sets of sites, with an occupancy ratio of 0.744?(4):0.256?(4). The uncoordinated water mol-ecule is also disordered with an occupancy factor of 0.744?(4). O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds link the complex cations, nitrate anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules into a supra-molecular layer parallel to (102).
