Bis{6-bromo-4-chloro-2-[(E)-(2-chloro-phenyl)-imino-meth-yl]-phenolato-?(2)N,O}copper(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(C(13)H(7)BrCl(2)NO)(2)], or CuL(2) {where HL= 2-[(E)-(2-chloro-phenyl-imino)-meth-yl]-6-bromo-4-chloro-phenol}, the Cu(II) atom is located on an inversion center and has a square-planar coordination. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are linked via Cu?Cl inter-actions [2.9933?(11)?Å], forming a two-dimensional network parallel to the bc plane. They are also Cl?Cl inter-actions [3.3709?(14)?Å] present, which consolidate the two-dimensional network structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(12)H(7)BrClN(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) center is tetra-coordinated by two phenolate O and two azomethine N atoms from two independent bidentate 4-bromo-2-[(2-chloro-3-pyrid-yl)imino-meth-yl]phenolate (L) ligands. In the crystal structure, the Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-planar coordination environment. The inter-planar dihedral angles between the benzene and pyridine rings in the individual ligands are 63.83?(4) and 54.43?(3)°, indicating the pyridine ring to have considerably weaker steric hindrance.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(17)H(11)BrNO)(2)], lies on a centre of inversion. The chelating Schiff base anions define a square-planar N(2)O(2) donor set. The nearly perpendicular orientation of the naphthyl residues of the chelate ring [dihedral angle = 82.12?(12)°] precludes the Cu(II) centre from additional coordination. In the refinement, the naphthyl rings were found to be disordered over two positions.; the major component has a site occupancy of 0.667?(4).

Project description:The title compound, [Cu2(C9H10NO2)4], is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The Cu(II) atoms are each five coordinated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands that are bonded differently to the metal atoms. Of the two phenolate O atoms, one is coordinated to one Cu(II) atom, whereas another bridges the two metal atoms. The basal plane of the square pyramid around Cu(II) atoms is formed by the imino N and phenolate O atoms of the bidentate and the monodentate/bidentate Schiff base ligands. The bridging phenolate oxygen occupies the apical position of the coordination sphere with a considerably longer Cu-O bond length. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules pack relative to each other in such a way that the Cu2O2 planes of adjacent dimers are orthogonal.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(12)H(9)N(2)O)(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)], contains two independent (2-formyl-phen-olato){2-[(pyridin-2-yl)imino-meth-yl]phenolato}copper(II) mol-ecules that form pseudocentrosymmetric dimers via inter-actions between the Cu and pyridyl N atoms of independent monomers. The square-planar geometry of the Cu atoms in the monomer thus becomes square-based pyramidal in the dimer. The crystal studied was an inversion twin, with unequal populations of 0.353?(17) and 0.647?(17).
