Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(13)ClN(2)O(2)·CH(4)O, consists of a 4-chloro-N'-(4-meth-oxy-benzyl-idene)benzohydrazide (CMB) mol-ecule and a methanol mol-ecule of crystallization. It was obtained by the condensation of 4-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde with 4-chloro-benzohydrazide. In the CMB mol-ecule, the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 50.1 (3)°. The methanol mol-ecule is linked to the CMB mol-ecule through O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. Project description:The title Schiff base compound, C(15)H(13)ClN(2)O(3), was prepared by the reaction of equimolar quanti-ties of 5-chloro-2-hy-droxy-benzaldehyde with 2-meth-oxy-benzohydrazide in a methanol solution. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 20.6 (3)°. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond may influence the mol-ecular conformation. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules form chains along the b direction via inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds which are bifurcated involving an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond.

Inter-molecular π-π inter-actions between the aromatic rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.712 (3) and 3.672 (3) Å] link these ribbons further into layers parallel to the ab plane.
