ABSTRACT: Thesupraoptic nucleus (SON)isahypothalamicregionthatisessentialforoverseeingosmoregulationinmammals.VasopressinissynthesisedinthemagnocellularneuronsoftheSONbeforeaxonaltransporttotheposterior pituitaryforreleaseintosystemiccirculation.PreviousresearchhasinterrogatedtheSON transcriptomeofmodelrodentsduringtheosmoticstressofdehydration.Untilnow,thedesertrodentSONhasnotbeenexplored.Geneexpression(by RNAseq) wascomparedintheJerboaSONbetween(maleandfemale)animalsincontrol,dehydrated(10/11dayswaterrestriction),andrehydrated(7dayswaterrestrictionfollowedby3/4dayswateravailability)conditions.
