Project description:Nipah virus (NiV) is a highly pathogenic, negative strand RNA paramyxovirus that has recently emerged from flying foxes to cause serious human disease. To study the poorly-understood role of nonstructural NiV proteins in NiV pathogenesis, we generated recombinant viruse lacking the expression of accesory NiV C protein (NiV∆C).
Project description:Two subsets of neutrophils, separated by CD49d expression, are present in the airways of mice during an acute respiratory infection from murine paramyxovirus type 1 (SeV). We used microarrays to compare the transcriptomes of these two subsets to look for up-regulated or down-regulated genes that would account for the seemingly different funtions of the neutrophil subsets.

Project description:RNA sequencing of avian paramyxovirus isolates
Project description:The objective of this study was to compare the transcriptomes of uninfected DH82 cells, a canine histiocytic sarcoma cell line, with DH82 cells, persistently infected with the Onderstepoort strain of canine distemper virus in order to identify effects of canine distemper virus infection upon the transcriptome of this tumor cell line and hereby draw conclusions on possible paramyxovirus-induced oncolytic mechanisms
Project description:Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is an avian paramyxovirus that causes major economic losses to the poultry industry around the world, with NDV pathogenicity varying due to strain virulence differences. However, the impact of intracellular viral replication and the heterogeneity of host responses among cell types are unknown. Here, we investigated the heterogeneity of lung tissue cells in response to NDV infection in vivo and that of chicken embryo fibroblast cell line DF-1 to NDV infection in vitro using single-cell RNA sequencing.
