Project description:The differential diagnosis between head & neck squamous cell carcinomas and lung squamous cell carcinomas is often unresolved because the histologic appearance of these two tumor types is similar. In the development of a gene expression profile test (GEP-HN-LS) that distinguishes these 2 cancer types, a collection of poorly differentiated primary and metastatic tumor specimens were used. Here we describe 76 such tumor specimens that were used for validation of GEP-HN-LS. The specimens are either head & neck squamous cell carcinomas or lung squamous cell carcinomas.

All tissue specimens were formalin fixed paraffin embedded specimens. Gene expression was profiled using Affymetrix GeneChip platform.
Project description:We used ChIP-seq to map the binding sites of wild-type and mutant KLF5. In addition, by performing H3K27ac ChIP-seq, we mapped the enhancer regions in cell lines of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas, esophageal carcinomas, and stomach adenocarcinomas.
Project description:We show that head and neck squamous cell carcinomas models with deficient H3K36me, induced by H3K36M expression, lead to epigenetic dysregulation.
Project description:Genome-wide DNA methylation profiling of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCCs). The Illumina Infinium 27k Human DNA methylation BeadChip v1.2 was used to obtain DNA methylation profiles across approximately 27,000 CpGs in fresh-frozen tumor tissues. Samples included 91 tumors from the oralpharynx and larynx, reflecting all stages of disease, 18 normal head and neck National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI) samples, and 213 normal control blood samples. Bisulphite-converted DNA from the 91 head and neck squamous cell carcinoma samples were hybridized to the Illumina Infinium 27k Human Methylation Beadchip v1.2.
Project description:Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) driven by human papillomavirus (HPV) generally have a more favourable prognosis. We hypothesized that HPV-positive HNSCC may be identified based on a miRNA signature according to their specific molecular pathogenesis and are characterized by a unique transcriptome compared to HPV-negative HNSCC. We characterized the miRNA-expression patterns of the tumors from 229 head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients by Agilent miRNA microarrays in order to define a HPV-predicting miRNA signature.
Project description:Gene expression patterns of 11 metastazised tumors of the head and neck region were compared to 11 non-metastasized tumors Experiment Overall Design: 11 metastazised head and neck squamous cell carcinomas from 3 regions (mouth, oropharynx, larynx) were compared to 11 non-metastazised tumors on affymetrix arrays
Project description:Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSqCC) are related with cigarette, alcohol and areca quid (AQ). In the era of precision preventive medicine, susceptible genetic markers for HNSqCCs were investigated by genome-wide association manner.
Project description:An experiment was performed to investigate the perservation of gene expression upon metastasis of primary head and neck squamous cell carcinomas to the cervical lymph node.
Project description:This study represents a proteomic resource for HNSCC and SQCLC with quantitative protein expression data for 7800 proteins and provides a proteomic diagnostic signature for classification for undetermined secondary lung tumors in HNSCC patients. By quantitative mass-spectrometry-based proteomics, we characterized a cohort of 63 squamous cell carcinomas of the lung (SQCLC), 49 of the head and neck region (HNSCC) and 51 HNSCC-correlated lung tumors with squamous cell histology that evolved in the course of the disease.
