Project description:Transcriptome analyses after the transfer of pCER270-spec megaplasmid in B. cereus F4810-72 (previously cured for its plasmid), B. thuringiensis HD73, and B. weihenstephanensis KBAB6 strains. We determined differentially expressed genes in pCER270+ strains in comparison with pCER270- strains.
Project description:Bacillus weihenstephanensis is a subspecies of the Bacillus cereus sensu lato group of spore forming bacteria known to cause food spoilage or food poisoning. The key distinguishing phenotype of B. weihenstephanensis is its ability to grow below 7°C or, from a food safety perspective, to grow and potentially produce toxins in a refrigerated environment. In order to gain insight into to the mechanistic basis of its psychrotolerant phenotype, as well as elucidate relevant aspects of its toxigenic profile, the proteome profiles of cells grown at either 6°C or 30°C were compared.
Project description:The aim of the study was to carry out a CGH study utilizing a set of 39 diverse Bacillus isolates. Thirty four B. cereus and five B. anthracis strains and isolates were chosen so as to represent different lineages based on previous characterizations, including MLEE and MLST (Helgason, Okstad et al. 2000; Helgason, Tourasse et al. 2004). They represent the spectrum of B. cereus phenotypic diversity by including soil, dairy and periodontal isolates in addition to virulent B. anthracis strains.
