DNA copy number analysis from mice with radiation-induced acute myeloid leukemia

ABSTRACT: Certain mouse strains such as CBA, C3H and RFM, have high incidence of radiation-induced acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The data in this serie was generated by using spleen DNA from CBA mice which were irraidated with either gamma-rays or heavy ion (HZE) particles. Spleen DNA with radiation-induced AML was compared with DNA from normal CBA mice. Comparison of spleen DNA from CBA mice with radiation-induced AML vs genomic DNA from normal CBA mice

Exposure to sparsely ionising gamma- or X-ray irradiation is known to increase the risk of leukaemia in humans. However, heavy ion radiotherapy and extended space exploration will expose humans to densely ionising high linear energy transfer (LET) radiation for which there is currently no understanding of leukaemia risk. Murine models have implicated chromosomal deletion that includes the hematopoietic transcription factor gene, PU.1 (Sfpi1), and point mutation of the second PU.1 allele as the p  ...[more]
