Transcription profiling of resting and activated human Vg9Vd2 T cells and CD8 ab T cells

ABSTRACT: Comparing Vg9Vd2 T cells with CD8 ab T cells
To compare the responses of resting and activated human Vg9Vd2 T cells (mainly CD4-CD8-) to those of conventional CD8+ ab T cells, we used Hver2.1.1 microarrays containing ~15,000 cDNAs. CD8 T cells were chosen as the conventional counterpart of human Vg9Vd2+ cells because the biology and clinical application of Vg9Vd2 T cells is most often rationalized in the context of the cells’ proven cytolytic potential. This does not withstand the fact that both conventional CD8 T cells and Vg9Vd2+ cells share with T-helper cells and other cells the capacity to express various cytokines and chemokines.
