ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(C(14)H(13)N(2)O(2))(N(3))], is a monomeric neutral complex with one unsymmetrical 6-meth-oxy-2-(2-pyridylmethyl-imino-meth-yl)phenolate Schiff base ligand and one azide ligand. The mol-ecules are connected by a combination of two π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances 3.359 (3) and 3.378 (2) Å] and one C-H⋯N hydrogen bond into a two-dimensional supra-molecular network structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(14)H(13)N(2)O(2))(2)], the Cu(II) ion is located on a crystallographic inversion center. The complex thus adopts a square-planar trans-[CuN(2)O(2)] coordination geometry, with the Cu(II) ion coordinated by two 2-meth-oxy-6-(3-pyridylmethyl-imino-meth-yl)phenolate (Schiff base) ligands. The aryl and pyridyl rings in the Schiff base are almost perpendicular to each other, with a dihedral angle of 87.61 (6)° between the planes of the two six-membered rings. The pyridyl ring was refined using a disorder model with approximately 70% occupancy for the major component.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(14)H(13)N(2)O(2))(NCS)(C(3)H(7)NO)], the Cu(2+) ion is coordinated by an N,N',O-tridentate 2-meth-oxy-6-(2-pyridylmethyl-imino-meth-yl)phenolate ligand, an N-bonded thio-cyanate ion and an O-bonded dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecule, resulting in a distorted CuN(3)O(2) square-based pyramidal geometry for the metal ion, with the DMF O atom in the apical site. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings in the ligand is 8.70 (16)°. The S atom is disordered over two positions in a 0.901 (6):0.099 (6) ratio. In the crystal, mol-ecules inter-act by way of π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.720 (2) Å].

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(14)H(13)N(2)O)(2)(N(3))(2)], was synthesized by the reaction of Cu(NO(3))(2)·3H(2)O with the Schiff base 2-[1-(2-pyridylmethyl-imino)eth-yl]phenol (HL) in methanol-water solution, adding NaN(3) as the bridging ligand. The asymmetric unit contains one half-mol-ecule, the other half being generated by the inversion center. Each Cu(II) atom shows a slightly distorted trigonal-pyramidal geometry formed by two N atoms and one O atom from one Schiff base ligand, by another O atom of a second Schiff base ligand and by an azide N atom. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu2(C9H10NO2)4], is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The Cu(II) atoms are each five coordinated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands that are bonded differently to the metal atoms. Of the two phenolate O atoms, one is coordinated to one Cu(II) atom, whereas another bridges the two metal atoms. The basal plane of the square pyramid around Cu(II) atoms is formed by the imino N and phenolate O atoms of the bidentate and the monodentate/bidentate Schiff base ligands. The bridging phenolate oxygen occupies the apical position of the coordination sphere with a considerably longer Cu-O bond length. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules pack relative to each other in such a way that the Cu2O2 planes of adjacent dimers are orthogonal.
