ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title mixed-ligand coordination polymer, [Nd(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Nd(III) ion is in an octa-hedral coordination environment formed by one water mol-ecule, one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, and five monodentate carboxyl-ate groups. The local coordination polyhedron around the Nd(III) ion is a bicapped trigonal prism. Two Nd(III) centers are bridged by four carboxyl-ate groups to form an Nd(2) dimeric unit; these are further connected by 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate linkers, resulting in a layered coordination network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(14)H(8)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Ni(II) atom is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry by two water mol-ecules, two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups of two 2,2'-biphenyl-dicarboxyl-ate (2,2'-dpa) ligands. The 2,2'-dpa ligand acts as a bridge between neighbouring Ni(II) atoms, forming one-dimensional coordination polymers along [100]. The coordinated water mol-ecules form hydrogen bonds to the carboxyl-ate O atoms of 2,2'-dpa within the same coordination polymer, and one O-H⋯π inter-action is also formed to 2,2'-dpa.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C(12)H(6)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Mn atoms are each coordinated by four O atoms of naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two N atoms of two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine ligands within a strongly distorted octa-hedra. Two of the O atoms originate from one naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anion, whereas the remaining two O atoms derive from two symmetry-equivalent naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions. Two Mn atoms are connected via the anions into dimers, which are further linked by the anions and the N-donor ligands into a three-dimensional coordination network.

Project description:In the title polymeric compound, [Pb(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))](n), the Pb(II) cation, located on a mirror plane, is N,N'-chelated by a 2-2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ate (bpdc) anion and is further coordinated by six O atoms from four carboxyl groups of bpdc anions in an irregular N(2)O(6) geometry. The carboxylate groups bridge the Pb(II) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric structure. The carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached pyridine ring by 11.4 (3)°.

Project description:In the title polymer, [Cd(C(16)H(10)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), the Cd(II) ion is in a strongly distorted octa-hedral geometry, being coordinated by two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, three carboxylate O atoms from two symmetry-related trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions and one water mol-ecule. The stilbene ligand lies on an inversion centre at the midpoint of the central C=C bond. This feature generates the polymeric structure: adjacent Cd(II) ions are bridged by trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions, giving rise to a one-dimensional structure. The coordinated water mol-ecule is involved in interchain O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Sm(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(2)](n), is composed of one-dimensional chains and is isostructural with previously reported compounds [Wang et al. (2003 ?). Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. pp. 1355-1360]. The asymmetric unit contains two Sm atoms, each of which lies on a crystallographic twofold axis. Both crystallographically independent Sm atoms are coordinated by eight O atoms in a distorted dodeca-hedral arrangement. The polymeric chains run along [001]. Adjacent chains are connected through ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.450?(2)?Å], forming a two-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)], the Ni(II) atom (site symmetry 2) displays a distorted cis-NiN(2)O(4) octa-hedral coordination geometry with two N atoms and two O atoms of the tetra-dentate 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-dicarboxyl-ate ligand in the equatorial plane and two water mol-ecules in axial positions. The complete dianionic ligand is generated by crystallographic twofold symmetry. Eight Nd(III) ions and 12 pda ligands form a large [Nd(8)(pda)(12)] ring, and four Nd(III) ions and six pda ligands form a small [Nd(4)(pda)(6)] ring. These rings are further connected by the coordination inter-actions of pda ligands and Nd(III), generating a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], was obtained by solvothermal synthesis. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two carboxyl groups from different biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, leading to a distorted octahedral environment. Each carboxyl-ate group makes one short Cu-O bond [1.9608 (14) and 1.9701 (14) Å] and one longer Cu-O contact [2.4338 (17) and 2.5541 (17) Å] to each Cu(II) atom. The biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands bridge between Cu(II) atoms, forming a dinuclear complex around a crystallographic inversion centre.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Co(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two O atoms from two biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate (2,2'-dpa) ligands in a distorted planar geometry. Longer Co-O contacts [2.437 (3) and 2.552 (3) Å] are formed to the second O atom of each coordinated carboxyl-ate group so that these groups approximate a bidentate coordination mode and the coordination geometry around Co(II) approaches distorted octa-hedral. The 2,2'-dpa ligands bridge two Co(II) atoms, forming a cyclic dinuclear complex around a centre of inversion.

Project description:The solvothermal reaction of magnesium nitrate with bi-phenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid in N,N-dimethyl-formamide and water leads to the formation of crystals of the title complex, [Mg(C(14)H(8)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n). In the crystal structure, the Mg cations are coordinated by six O atoms from two water mol-ecules and four symmetry-related biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate anions within slightly distorted octa-hedra. The Mg cations are located on a center of inversion, the biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate anions around a twofold rotation axis and the water mol-ecule in a general position. The Mg cations are linked by the anions into a three-dimensional framework.
