Poly[diaqua-bis(2,2'-bipyridine)tris-(?(4)-2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ato)dineodymium(III)].

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title mixed-ligand coordination polymer, [Nd(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Nd(III) ion is in an octa-hedral coordination environment formed by one water mol-ecule, one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, and five monodentate carboxyl-ate groups. The local coordination polyhedron around the Nd(III) ion is a bicapped trigonal prism. Two Nd(III) centers are bridged by four carboxyl-ate groups to form an Nd(2) dimeric unit; these are further connected by 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate linkers, resulting in a layered coordination network.

Project description:The title compound, [Sm(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(2)](n), is composed of one-dimensional chains and is isostructural with previously reported compounds [Wang et al. (2003 ?). Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. pp. 1355-1360]. The asymmetric unit contains two Sm atoms, each of which lies on a crystallographic twofold axis. Both crystallographically independent Sm atoms are coordinated by eight O atoms in a distorted dodeca-hedral arrangement. The polymeric chains run along [001]. Adjacent chains are connected through ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.450?(2)?Å], forming a two-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Each Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by three O atoms from two biphen-yl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate anions, one aqua O atom and two N atoms of a 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand. Intramolecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water molecules and the carboxylate O atoms are also present.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)], the Ni(II) atom (site symmetry 2) displays a distorted cis-NiN(2)O(4) octa-hedral coordination geometry with two N atoms and two O atoms of the tetra-dentate 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-dicarboxyl-ate ligand in the equatorial plane and two water mol-ecules in axial positions. The complete dianionic ligand is generated by crystallographic twofold symmetry. In the crystal, a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (001) is formed through O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the O atoms of nearby carboxyl-ate groups.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[Ce(2)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(12)](C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)}(n), consists of half a Ce(III) cation, a quarter of a coordinated benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (bdc(2-)) dianion, a quarter of a 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy) mol-ecule, three water mol-ecules and a half of an uncoordinated benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate dianion. The Ce(III) ion is located on a twofold rotation axis and exhibits a distorted trigonal prism square-face tricapped coordination geometry. The coordinated and uncoordinated bdc(2-) ions and the bpy mol-ecule lie about special positions of site symmetries 2/m, m and 2/m, respectively. The Ce(III) ions are bridged by the bdc(2-) and bpy ligands, giving a sheet structure parallel to the ac plane. The uncoordinated bdc(2-) dianion exists between the sheets and links the sheets by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the uncoordinated bdc(2-) and coordinated water mol-ecules. A ?-? stacking inter-action between the uncoordinated bdc(2-) dianion and the bpy ligand [centroid-centroid distance = 3.750?(4)?Å] is also observed.

Project description:The solvothermal reaction of magnesium nitrate with bi-phenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid in N,N-dimethyl-formamide and water leads to the formation of crystals of the title complex, [Mg(C(14)H(8)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n). In the crystal structure, the Mg cations are coordinated by six O atoms from two water mol-ecules and four symmetry-related biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate anions within slightly distorted octa-hedra. The stilbene ligand lies on an inversion centre at the midpoint of the central C=C bond. This feature generates the polymeric structure: adjacent Cd(II) ions are bridged by trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions, giving rise to a one-dimensional structure. The coordinated water mol-ecule is involved in interchain O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title polymeric compound, [Pb(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))](n), the Pb(II) cation, located on a mirror plane, is N,N'-chelated by a 2-2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ate (bpdc) anion and is further coordinated by six O atoms from four carboxyl groups of bpdc anions in an irregular N(2)O(6) geometry. The carboxylate groups bridge the Pb(II) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric structure. The carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached pyridine ring by 11.4?(3)°.
