Catena-Poly[diaqua-tris(?(3)-biphenyl-2,2-dicarboxyl-ato)disamarium(III)].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Sm(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(2)](n), is composed of one-dimensional chains and is isostructural with previously reported compounds [Wang et al. (2003 ?). Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. pp. 1355-1360]. The asymmetric unit contains two Sm atoms, each of which lies on a crystallographic twofold axis. Both crystallographically independent Sm atoms are coordinated by eight O atoms in a distorted dodeca-hedral arrangement. The polymeric chains run along [001]. Adjacent chains are connected through ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.450?(2)?Å], forming a two-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(14)H(8)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Ni(II) atom is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry by two water mol-ecules, two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups of two 2,2'-biphenyl-dicarboxyl-ate (2,2'-dpa) ligands. The 2,2'-dpa ligand acts as a bridge between neighbouring Ni(II) atoms, forming one-dimensional coordination polymers along [100]. The coordinated water mol-ecules form hydrogen bonds to the carboxyl-ate O atoms of 2,2'-dpa within the same coordination polymer, and one O-H⋯π inter-action is also formed to 2,2'-dpa.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title mixed-ligand coordination polymer, [Nd(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Nd(III) ion is in an octa-hedral coordination environment formed by one water mol-ecule, one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, and five monodentate carboxyl-ate groups. The local coordination polyhedron around the Nd(III) ion is a bicapped trigonal prism. Two Nd(III) centers are bridged by four carboxyl-ate groups to form an Nd(2) dimeric unit; these are further connected by 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate linkers, resulting in a layered coordination network.

Project description:The solvothermal reaction of magnesium nitrate with bi-phenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid in N,N-dimethyl-formamide and water leads to the formation of crystals of the title complex, [Mg(C(14)H(8)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n). In the crystal structure, the Mg cations are coordinated by six O atoms from two water mol-ecules and four symmetry-related biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate anions within slightly distorted octa-hedra. The Mg cations are located on a center of inversion, the biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate anions around a twofold rotation axis and the water mol-ecule in a general position. The Mg cations are linked by the anions into a three-dimensional framework.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, {[Fe(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O}(n), was synthesized by a diffusion method. It has a one-dimensional polymeric chain structure and the chains are further connected into a three-dimensional structure by hydrogen bonds. The Fe(II) ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment, with two N and two O atoms from the pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligands in the equatorial plane and with two water mol-ecules in axial positions. The Fe atom lies on a crystallographic centre of symmetry and a twofold rotation axis passes through the pyrazine ring.
