Poly[(?(5)-2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ato)lead(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the title polymeric compound, [Pb(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))](n), the Pb(II) cation, located on a mirror plane, is N,N'-chelated by a 2-2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ate (bpdc) anion and is further coordinated by six O atoms from four carboxyl groups of bpdc anions in an irregular N(2)O(6) geometry. The carboxylate groups bridge the Pb(II) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric structure. The carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached pyridine ring by 11.4?(3)°.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], was obtained by solvothermal synthesis. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two carboxyl groups from different biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, leading to a distorted octahedral environment. Each carboxyl-ate group makes one short Cu-O bond [1.9608 (14) and 1.9701 (14) Å] and one longer Cu-O contact [2.4338 (17) and 2.5541 (17) Å] to each Cu(II) atom. The biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands bridge between Cu(II) atoms, forming a dinuclear complex around a crystallographic inversion centre.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Co(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two O atoms from two biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate (2,2'-dpa) ligands in a distorted planar geometry. Longer Co-O contacts [2.437 (3) and 2.552 (3) Å] are formed to the second O atom of each coordinated carboxyl-ate group so that these groups approximate a bidentate coordination mode and the coordination geometry around Co(II) approaches distorted octa-hedral. The 2,2'-dpa ligands bridge two Co(II) atoms, forming a cyclic dinuclear complex around a centre of inversion.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(14)H(8)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Ni(II) atom is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry by two water mol-ecules, two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups of two 2,2'-biphenyl-dicarboxyl-ate (2,2'-dpa) ligands. The 2,2'-dpa ligand acts as a bridge between neighbouring Ni(II) atoms, forming one-dimensional coordination polymers along [100]. The coordinated water mol-ecules form hydrogen bonds to the carboxyl-ate O atoms of 2,2'-dpa within the same coordination polymer, and one O-H⋯π inter-action is also formed to 2,2'-dpa.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title mixed-ligand coordination polymer, [Nd(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Nd(III) ion is in an octa-hedral coordination environment formed by one water mol-ecule, one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, and five monodentate carboxyl-ate groups. The local coordination polyhedron around the Nd(III) ion is a bicapped trigonal prism. Two Nd(III) centers are bridged by four carboxyl-ate groups to form an Nd(2) dimeric unit; these are further connected by 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate linkers, resulting in a layered coordination network.

Two of the O atoms originate from one naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anion, whereas the remaining two O atoms derive from two symmetry-equivalent naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions. Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, obtained from a basic solution of 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ate and nickel(II) chloride in water, the central Ni(II) cation (site symmetry 2) is coordinated by two N atoms from the 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and four aqua O atoms. The N-Ni-N angle is 78.64?(8)°. Weak but significant ?-? stacking inter-actions exist between the pyridine rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.652?(8)?Å. In addition, four O atoms of the two carboxyl groups form hydrogen bonds with both coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules, forming an infinite three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title polymer, [Cd(C(16)H(10)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), the Cd(II) ion is in a strongly distorted octa-hedral geometry, being coordinated by two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, three carboxylate O atoms from two symmetry-related trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions and one water mol-ecule. The stilbene ligand lies on an inversion centre at the midpoint of the central C=C bond. This feature generates the polymeric structure: adjacent Cd(II) ions are bridged by trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions, giving rise to a one-dimensional structure. The coordinated water mol-ecule is involved in interchain O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Pb(C(7)H(3)NO(4))](n), the Pb(II) ion is eight-coordinated in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by one pyridine N atom and seven carboxyl-ate O atoms from four pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate (pda) anions. In the pda anion, the dihedral angles between the pyridine ring and carboxyl-ate groups are 19.5 (6) and 73.3 (6)°. The carboxyl-ate groups of the pda anions bridge the Pb ions, forming a two-dimensional coordination polymer parallel to (100). Weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen boning is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, {[Mn(3)(C(10)H(5)O(7))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. Six carboxyl-ate groups of six 5-(carboxyl-atometh-oxy)benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate anions (OABDC(3-)) join three Mn(II) ions into a trinuclear centrosymmetric [Mn(3)(μ(2)-COO)(6)] unit with one Mn site situated on a centre of inversion. The latter Mn(II) ion exhibits a distorted MnO(6) coordination, whereas the other Mn(II) ion has a trigonal-bipyramidal MnN(2)O(3) coordination environment resulting from three carboxylate O atoms and the two N atoms of the bipyridine ligand. Adjacent units are linked to each other by OABDC(3-) ligands into a layer parallel to (010). Within the layer, O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the uncoordinated and half-occupied water mol-ecule and the free carboxyl-ate O atoms are observed. The layers stack along [010], constructing a three-dimensional structure through π-π inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.473 (5) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Pb(sbc)(bpy)]·2H(2)O}(n) [bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine (C(10)H(8)N(2)) and sbc is the 2-sulfonatobenzoate dianion (C(7)H(4)O(5)S)], the Pb(II) ion is bonded to four O atoms including carboxyl-ate and sulfonate from three sbc dianions, and two N atoms from a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand. The sbc ligand acts as a μ(3)-bridging ligand by one O atom of the sulfonate group and the two O atoms of the carboxyl-ate. Of these two last O atoms, one builds up a dinuclear framework arranged around an inversion center whereas the second one links each dinuclear unit, forming a chain extending along the b axis. These polymeric chains are linked through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules, forming a layer parallel to (10).
