Gold(I)-catalyzed intramolecular hydroarylation of allenes.

ABSTRACT: Gold(I) complexes react with 4-allenyl arenes in an exo fashion to furnish vinyl-substituted benzocycles. Phosphite gold(I) monocations were found to be optimal, and the catalyst was tolerant of ethers, esters, and pyrroles. Reactions proceeded in unpurified solvent at room temperature.

Project description:A gold(I)-catalyzed enantioselective desymmetrization of 1,3-diols was achieved by intramolecular hydroalkoxylation of allenes. The catalyst system 3-F-dppe(AuCl)2/(R)-C8-TRIPAg proved to be specifically efficient to promote the desymmetrizing cyclization of 2-aryl-1,3-diols, which have proven challenging substrates in previous reports. Multisubstituted tetrahydrofurans were prepared in good yield with good enantioselectivity and diastereoselectivity by this method.

Project description:Reaction of N-delta-allenyl urea 1 with a catalytic 1:1 mixture of gold(I) N-heterocyclic carbene complex (5)AuCl [5 = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidine] and AgPF(6) at room temperature for 2 h led to isolation of bicyclic imidazolidin-2-one 4 in 93% yield with >or=98% diastereomeric purity. Gold-catalyzed dihydroamination was effective for a number of N-delta- and N-gamma-allenyl ureas to form the corresponding bicyclic imidazolidin-2-ones in good yield with high diastereoselectivity.

Synthesis of 4-Substituted-1,2-Dihydroquinolines by Means of Gold-Catalyzed Intramolecular Hydroarylation Reaction of N-Ethoxycarbonyl-N-Propargylanilines.

Project description:An alternative Au(I)-catalyzed synthetic route to functionalized 1,2-dihydroquinolines is reported. This novel approach is based on the use of N-ethoxycarbonyl protected-N-propargylanilines as building blocks that rapidly undergo the IMHA reaction affording the 6-endo cyclization product in good to high yields. In the presence of N-ethoxycarbonyl-N-propargyl-meta-substituted anilines, the regiodivergent cyclization at the ortho-/para-position is achieved by the means of catalyst fine tuning.

Axially Chiral Cyclic Diphosphine Ligand-Enabled Palladium-Catalyzed Intramolecular Asymmetric Hydroarylation.

Project description:In transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis, enantioselectivity strongly depends on the structures of chiral ligands, so the development of new chiral ligands is crucial. Here, an efficient and highly enantioselective palladium-catalyzed intramolecular hydroarylation has been developed, and a new kind of N-heterocycles, 1H-pyrazolo[5,1-a]isoindol-2(8H)-ones containing a quaternary stereocenter, was prepared in high yields and excellent enantiomeric excess values. The reaction was effectively catalyzed by palladium-diphosphine complexes with numerous functional group tolerance, in which the newly developed axially chiral cyclic diphosphine ligands played key roles in the reactivity and enantioselectivity of the substrates. We believe that the cyclic diphosphine ligands with adjustable dihedral angles will find wide application in asymmetric synthesis.
