ABSTRACT: The redetermined structure of the title compound, [AuCl(C(15)H(11)N(3))]Cl(2)·3H(2)O, at 173?(2)?K is reported. The structure displays O-H?Cl and O-H?O hydrogen bonding. The distance of one of the chloride ions from the gold(I) atom [5.047?(1)?Å] differs from that determined previously.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(6)H(8)O(4))Cl(2)(C(15)H(11)N(3))(2)]·4H(2)O, the dinuclear copper complex is located on a crystallographic inversion centre. Each Cu atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment, with one O atom of an adipate dianion and three N atoms from the 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and one chlorine in the apical site. In addition, there is weak Cu-O inter-action opposite of the chlorine with a distance of 2.768?(1)?Å. The adipate ligand adopts a gauche-anti-gauche conformation. The inter-stitial water mol-ecules form hydrogen-bonded tertramers that are connected to the complexes via O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, thus leading to the formation of tightly hydrogen-bonded layers extending perpendicular to the b-axis direction.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(22)H(14)N(4))(2)]Cl(2), has been synthesized by a solvothermal reaction of the 4'-(4-cyano-phen-yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand with CoCl(2)·6H(2)O. The cobalt(II) ion is six-coordinated by two tridentate ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The benzene rings form dihedral angles of 30.02?(7) and 30.26?(7)° with the mean planes of the terpyridine ring systems. The chloride anions are statistically disordered over two positions with refined site occupancies of 0.601?(2) and 0.399?(2).

The Pt-Cl bond distance is 2.2998?(7)?Å. The Pt-N distance of the N atom on the central pyridine is 1.931?(2)?Å, while the peripheral N atoms have Pt-N distances of 2.018?(2) and 2.022?(2)?Å. Project description:In the mixed-valence Cu(I)/Cu(II) coordination polymer, [Cu(2)Cl(3)(C(20)H(14)N(4))](n), the two Cu atoms are bridged to a pair of Cl atoms across a centre of inversion. The monovalent metal atoms is coordinated by a pyridine N atom as well as by three Cl atoms in a tetra-hedral CuNCl(3) geometry. The divalent metal atom is N,N',N''-chelated by the heterocycle, and it exists in a square-pyramidal CuN(3)Cl(2) geometry; the apical site is occupied by the second bridging Cl atom. The bridging modes of the Cl atoms and the heterocycle give rise to the formation of a layered arrangement parallel to (001).

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [ZnCl2(C15H11N3)], was redetermined based on modern CCD data. In comparison with the previous determination from photographic film data [Corbridge & Cox (1956 ?). J. Chem. Soc. 159, 594-603; Einstein & Penfold (1966 ?). Acta Cryst. 20, 924-926], all non-H atoms were refined with anisotropic displacement parameters, leading to a much higher precision in terms of bond lengths and angles [e.g. Zn-Cl = 2.2684?(8) and 2.2883?(11) compared to 2.25?(1) and 2.27?(1)?Å]. In the title mol-ecule, the Zn(II) atom is five-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal mode by two Cl atoms and by the three N atoms from the 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand. The latter is not planar and shows dihedral angles between the least-squares planes of the central pyridine ring and the terminal rings of 3.18?(8) and 6.36?(9)°. The mol-ecules in the crystal structure pack with ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.655?(2)?Å] between pyridine rings of neighbouring terpyridine moieties. These, together with inter-molecular C-H?Cl inter-actions, stablize the three-dimensional structure.
