Trans-Bis(perchlorato-?O)tetra-kis(1H-pyrazole-?N)copper(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(4)], was obtained unexpectedly by the reaction of copper(II) perchlorate hexa-hydrate with equimolar amounts of 1-chloro-1-nitro-2,2,2-tripyrazolylethane in methanol solution. The crystal structure comprises octa-hedrally coordinated Cu(2+) ions, located on an inversion centre, with four pyrazole ligands in the equatorial plane. The average Cu-N distance is 2.000?(1)?Å. Two perchlorate ions are coordinated to copper in trans positions [Cu-O = 2.4163?(11)?Å].

The Ni(II) atom is coordinated by four PzMe(3) mol-ecules and two thio-cyanate anions to define a trans N(4)S(2) distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Cu-Cl distance of 2.8719?(5)?Å is long due to the Jahn-Teller distortion of the d(9) electron configuration of Cu(II) ion. The tetra-zole and pyrazine rings make an N-C-C-N torsion angle of 38.25?(17)°. The charge of the anionic complex is balanced by four dimethyl-ammonium cations, which inter-act with the anionic complexes via N-H?N and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Each Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two cis-O atoms from two bridging methano-late anions and two cis-N atoms from two bridging 1,4-bis-(4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl)benzene (L) ligands in the basal plane, and is further coordinated by one O atom of the bridging perchlorate anion, forming a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The Cu?Cu separations in the recta-ngular core are 2.9878?(11) and 6.974?(1)?Å. In the asymmetric unit, there are two L ligands with a syn conformation. In one L ligand, the dihedral angles between the central benzene ring and the terminal 4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl mean planes are 22.1?(4) and 33.1?(4)°, and in the other L ligand the corresponding dihedral angles are 29.3?(4) and 29.9?(4)°. The uncoordinated perchlorate anion is linked with the complex mol-ecules via weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are organized into layers parallel to the ab plane by C-H?O inter-actions. Similar inter-actions promote the stacking of these layers into the three-dimensional crystal structure.
