ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Mn(C(8)H(4)N(8))(2)(H(2)O)(5)]·2H(2)O, is the fourth transition metal complex containing the 1,3-di(2H-tetra-zol-5-yl)benzene ligand to be structurally characterized. The Mn^II^ cation has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. The 1,3-di(tetra-zol-5-yl)benzene ligand is planar. All H atoms bonded to O atoms participate in hydrogen bonds, which link the mol-ecules into a framework structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(4)H(3)N(8))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, represents the first structurally characterized transition metal complex of the 1,2-bis-(tetra-zol-5-yl)ethene ligand. The complex mol-ecule occupies a special position on an inversion centre and the Mn atom has a tetra-gonally distorted octa-hedral coordination. The bis-(tetra-zolyl)ethene ligand is planar within 0.0366 (7) Å. All 'active' H atoms participate in hydrogen bonds, which link mol-ecules of the complex and the uncoordinated water mol-ecules into an infinite three-dimensional framework.

Project description:The title complex, [Mn(C(7)H(6)N(5))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], was obtained by the in situ hydro-thermal reaction of MnCl(2) with 2-(2-pyrid-yl)acetonitrile in the presence of NaN(3). The Mn(II) atom, which is located on an inversion centre, has a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry formed by two water mol-ecules and two chelating ligands. Inter-molecular hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions (3.452 Å) stabilize the crystal structure and lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, [Mn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)][Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)O(7)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, consists of mononuclear manganese(II) cations, dinuclear manganate(II) dianions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The dianion is located about an inversion center; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, a sulfonatoisophthalate group, a water mol-ecule along with two bridging water mol-ecules in an octa-hedral geometry. The cation lies on a twofold rotation axis; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four water mol-ecules and a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A partially overlapped arrangement between the bipyridine ligands and the aromatic ring of the sulfoisophthalate group of adjacent anions is observed; the distance (3.357 Å) indicates π-π stacking. Hydrogen bonds, with the water mol-ecules serving as hydrogen-bond donors, lead to a three-dimensional network architecture.
