ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(10)H(20)I(2)Si(2), contains two half-mol-ecules. Both complete molecules are generated by crystallographic inversion centers located at the mid-points of the central C-C single bonds; the butadiene groups are planar, with a trans conformation about the central C-C bond. The mol-ecules show short intra-molecular H?I contacts of 2.89 and 2.92?Å. The crystal packing shows no short inter-molecular contacts.

The crystal selected for this study proved to be a non-merohedral twin with a minor component of 21.8?(3)%.

Project description:The title centrosymmetric mol-ecule, C(46)H(42)Si(2), is composed of a central benzene ring with buta-1,3-diynyl chains at positions 1 and 4. These chains are terminated by tert-butyl-diphenyl-silyl groups, hence the molecule is dumbbell in shape. The mol-ecules are connected via C-H⋯π inter-actions in the structure, so forming an undulating two-dimensional network in the bc plane. There is also a weak π-π inter-action involving centrosymmetrically related phenyl rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.8359 (11) Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C8F16I2·C14H8N2, the mol-ecules form infinite chains parallel to [2-11] through two symmetry-independent C-I?N halogen bonds (XBs). As commonly found, the perfluoro-alkyl mol-ecules segregate from the hydro-carbon ones, forming a layered structure. Apart from the XBs, the only contact below the sum of van der Waals radii is a weak H?F contact. The topology of the network is a nice example of the paradigm of the expansion of ditopic starting modules; the XB leads to the construction of infinite supramolecular chains along [2-11] formed by alternating XB donors and acceptors.

Project description:In the title compound, C(29)H(25)NS(2), both the Cl atoms of the aza-diene precursor 4,4-dichloro-1,1-diphenyl-2-aza-buta-1,3-diene are replaced by two vicinal S-p-tolyl substituents attached to the terminal C atom of a π-conjugated 2-aza-butadiene array. The aza-diene chain is planar to within 0.01 Å. One of the phenyl rings seems to be slightly π-conjugated with the aza-diene core [dihedral angle 5.1 (2)°].

A crystallographic twofold axis passes through one Cu(I) atom and the N atom of the bis-(trimethyl-silyl)amide ligand that bridges between the other two Cu(I) atoms. The Cu-Cu bonds bridged by the guanadinate ligands [2.7913 (9) Å] are slightly longer than the Cu-Cu bond bridged by the bis-(trimethyl-silyl)amide ligand [2.6405 (11) Å].

Project description:The centrosymmetric title compound, C(18)H(28)I(2)O(2), crystallized in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c with the alkyl chains having extended all-trans conformations, similar to those in the centrosymmetric bromo analogue [Li et al. (2008 ▶). Acta Cryst. E64, o1930] that crystallized in the triclinic space group P. The difference between the two structures lies in the orientation of the two alkyl chains with respect to the C(aromatic)-O bond. In the title compound, the O-C(alk-yl)-C(alk-yl)-C(alk-yl) torsion angle is 55.8 (5)°, while in the bromo analogue this angle is -179.1 (2)°. In the title compound, the C-atoms of the alkyl chain are almost coplanar [maximum deviation of 0.052 (5) Å] and this mean plane is inclined to the benzene ring by 50.3 (3)°. In the bromo-analogue, these two mean planes are almost coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 4.1 (2)°. Another difference between the crystal structures of the two compounds is that in the title compound there are no halide⋯halide inter-actions. Instead, symmetry-related mol-ecules are linked via C-H⋯π contacts, forming a two-dimensional network.
