ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(12)H(6)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(14)N(4))(H(2)O)](n) or [Mn(2)(1,4-ndc)(2)(L)(H(2)O)](n), where 1,4-ndc is naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate and L is 1,1'-(butane-1,4-di-yl)diimidazole, the coordination polyhedron around each Mn(II) atom is distorted octa-hedral. The water mol-ecule and the L ligand are situated across a twofold rotation axis. The Mn(II) atoms are bridged by 1,4-ndc and L ligands, forming a three-dimensional network. O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed within the network.

The water O atom has site symmetry 2 and the complete 1,1'-(butane-1,4-di-yl)diimidazole (L) ligand is generated by inversion. The naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate and L ligands bridge the metal centres, forming a three-dimensional framework, which is consolidated by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title coordination compound, [Mn(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(C(2)O(4))(C(10)H(14)N(4))(2)](n), the biphenyl-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate and oxalate anions, both situated on inversion centres, function in a bridging mode, linking the dinuclear Mn(II) atoms into wave-like layers. Each 1,1'-(1,4-butane-1,4-di-yl)diimidazole ligand coordinates to two Mn(II) atoms located in adjacent layers via Mn-N coordination bonds, giving a three-dimensional network. As the methyl-ene groups can bend freely relative to each other due to the C atoms connected via single bonds, the 1,1'-(butane-1,4-di-yl)diimidazole ligand forms an S-shaped conformation, which makes the void in the three-dimensional network distorted.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Ho(2)(C(12)H(6)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(6)](n), contains binuclear centrosymmetric {Ho(2)O(2)(CO(2))(4)(H(2)O)(6)} cores inter-connected via the naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate (NDC(2-)) bridging ligands into a two-dimensional neutral plane net, ∞(2)[Ho(2)(NDC)(3)(H(2)O)(6)], exhibiting a typical (4,4)-topology. Inter-actions between adjacent layers are assured by a series of C-H⋯π contacts and a number of strong and highly directional O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated water mol-ecules and neighbouring coordinated carboxyl-ate groups. One NDC(2-) bridging ligand has its centroid located at a crystallographic centre of inversion.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C(12)H(6)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Mn atoms are each coordinated by four O atoms of naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two N atoms of two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine ligands within a strongly distorted octa-hedra. Two of the O atoms originate from one naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anion, whereas the remaining two O atoms derive from two symmetry-equivalent naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions. Two Mn atoms are connected via the anions into dimers, which are further linked by the anions and the N-donor ligands into a three-dimensional coordination network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Mn(C(12)H(6)O(4))(H(2)O)](n), contains one Mn(II) ion, one 1,8-naphthalene-dicarboxyl-ate (1,8-NDC) ligand and one water mol-ecule. The Mn(II) ion is six-coordinated within a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, in which the equatorial sites are occupied by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from four different 1,8-NDC ligands, while the axial positions are occupied by two O atoms of two coordinated water mol-ecules. Adjacent Mn(II) centres are bridged by one coordinated water and two carboxyl-ate groups in a syn-syn mode to form infinite chains along the b axis, which are further cross-linked by the naphthalene spacers of the 1,8-NDC ligands to produce a two-dimensional extended network.

Project description:The title compound, [Ba(C12H6O4)(H2O)2] n , is represented by a layer-like structure built of BaO8 polyhedra. The asymmetric unit contains a Ba(2+) ion, half a coordinating water mol-ecule and half a μ4-bridging naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxyl-ate (1,8-nap) ligand, the whole structure being generated by twofold rotational symmetry. The carboxyl-ate groups of the 1,8-nap ligands act as bridges linking four Ba(2+) ions, while each Ba(2+) ion is eight-coordinated by O atoms from four 1,8-nap ligands and two coordinating water mol-ecules. In the crystal, there are O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate O atoms in the BaO8 polyhedra. Each BaO8 polyhedron is connected via corner-sharing water O atoms or edge-sharing ligand O atoms, forming a sheet parallel to the bc plane. These sheets stack along the a-axis direction and are connected via van der Waals forces only. The naphthalene groups protrude above and below the layers of the BaO8 polyhedra and there are voids of ca 208 Å(3) bounded by these groups. No residual electron density was found in this region. The crystal studied was twinned by pseudo-merohedry, with a refined twin component ratio of 0.5261 (1):0.4739 (1).

The octa-hedrally coordinated Mn atoms are linked through the two dianions into a layer motif; the dimethyl-formamide mol-ecules occupy the spaces between adjacent layers. Ten C atoms and attached H atoms of one dianion are disordered equally over two positions.
