ABSTRACT: In the title salt, C(4)H(10)NO(+)·ClO(4) (-), which has three independent formula units, the cations are linked into chains along [100] by N-H?O hydrogen bonds. Each cation acts both as a donor and as an acceptor, and every cation makes one N-H?O hydrogen bond with a ClO(4) (-) anion. The crystal studied was an inversion twin.

Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt (systematic name: morpholinium 3-hy-droxy-2,4,6-trinitro-phenolate), C(4)H(10)NO(+)·C(6)H(2)N(3)O(8) (-), two of the nitro groups of the anion are close to parallel with the plane of the benzene ring [dihedral angles = 3.46?(9) and 11.60?(10)°] and one is almost perpendicular [dihedral angle = 82.23?(8)°]. An intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond occurs in the anion. The morpholinium cation has a slightly distorted chair conformation. In the crystal, the components are linked by simple N-H?O and trifurcated N-H?(O,O,O) hydrogen bonds.

Project description:There are two independent formula units in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(4)H(10)NO(+)·C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7) (-). The morpholinium cations in both mol-ecules are puckered and adopt a chair conformation. Intermolecular N-H?O and C-H?O inter-actions generate rings of motifs R(2) (1)(5) and R(1) (2)(6). The supra-molecular aggregation is completed by the presence of two co-operative hydrogen-bonded networks of further N-H?O inter-actions, which generate an infinite one-dimensional chain along the base vector [100]. Two C-H?? interactions are also seen.

The aggregates are further connected by another bifurcated N-H?(O, O) hydrogen bond, forming a double-tape structure along the b axis. A weak C-H?O inter-action is observed between the tapes.

Weaker bifurcated N-H?Br inter-actions join centrosymmetrically related chains through alternating binary graph-set R(4) (2)(8) and R(2) (2)(4) motifs, to form ladders along [100]. In addition, C-H?O inter-actions between centrosymmetric morpholinium cations link ladders, via[Formula: see text](8) motifs, to yield sheets parallel to (101), which in turn are crosslinked by weak C-H?O inter-actions, related across a glide plane, to form a three-dimensional network.
