ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [PtCl(4)(C(14)H(10)N(4))], the Pt(IV) atom is six-coordinated in an octa-hedral configuration by two N atoms from one 2,3-di-2-pyridylpyrazine ligand and four terminal Cl atoms. Inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [PtCl(4)(C(12)H(12)N(2))], contains one half-mol-ecule; a twofold rotation axis passes through the Pt atom and the mid-point of the C-C bond linking the two rings. The Pt(IV) atom is six-coordinated in an octa-hedral configuration by two N atoms of the 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand and four terminal Cl atoms. In the crystal structure, there are weak π-π inter-actions between pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 4.365 (3) Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [PtCl(3.66)I(0.34)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·0.5(Cl(0.13)I(1.87)), contains a neutral Pt(IV) complex and one half of a halogen molecule. The Pt(IV) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and Cl or I atoms. The refinement of the structure and the EDX analysis indicate that the compound is a solid solution in which there is some substitution of Cl for I and vice versa. The chemical formula of the pure state of the compound would have been [PtCl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·0.5I(2). In the analysed crystal, two Cl atoms are partially (ca 25% and 9%) replaced by I atoms, and the I(2) mol-ecule has a minor component modelled as ICl. As a result of the disorder, the different trans effects of the N and Cl/I atoms are not distinct. The complex displays inter-molecular π-π inter-actions between the six-membered rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.771 (4) Å. There are also weak intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title complex, [PtCl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·H(2)O, the Pt(4+) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by four Cl atoms. As a result of the different trans effects of the N and Cl atoms, the Pt-Cl bonds trans to the N atom are slightly shorter than those trans to the Cl atom. The compound displays inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the six-membered rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.834?Å. There are also weak intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. According to the IR spectrum, solvent water was present in the crystal, but owing to the high thermal motion of the uncoordinated O atom, the H atoms could not be detected.

In the complexes, each Pt(IV) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four Cl atoms. Because of the different trans effects of the N and Cl atoms, the Pt-Cl bonds trans to the N atom are slightly shorter than those trans to the Cl atom. The compound displays numerous inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between six-membered rings, with a shortest centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.654?Å. There are also weak intra- and inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Dibromido(2,3-di-2-pyridyl-pyrazine-κN,N)platinum(II).

Project description:The Pt(II) ion in the title complex, [PtBr(2)(C(14)H(10)N(4))], is four-coordinated in a distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of a chelating 2,3-di-2-pyridyl-pyrazine ligand and two bromide anions. In the crystal, the pyridyl ring coordinated to the Pt atom is inclined slightly to its carrier pyrazine ring [dihedral angle = 14.7 (2)°], whereas the uncoordinated pyridyl ring is inclined considerably to the pyrazine ring [dihedral angle = 51.9 (3)°]. The dihedral angle between the two pyridyl rings is 57.7 (3)°. Two complex mol-ecules are assembled through inter-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming a dimer-type species. Intra-molecular C-H⋯Br and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are also present.

Project description:In the title complex, [PtCl2(C5H11N)(C6H6N2O2)], the Pt(II) metal atom displays a slightly distorted trans-PtN2Cl2 square-planar coordination geometry. The dihedral angle between the mean plane of the benzene and piperidine rings is 89.03 (3)°. In the crystal structure, inversion dimers are formed via N-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bond inter-actions, resulting in chains parallel to the [001] direction. The benzene rings within the chains show π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.801 (3) Å] and neighbouring chains inter-act via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [V(2)Cl(4)O(2)(CH(3)CN)(4)], is a centrosymmetric dinuclear V(IV) complex associated with four mol-ecules of acetonitrile. The coordination around both V(IV) atoms is essentially square-planar, involving three Cl atoms and one O atom [maximum deviation = 0.017?(3)?Å for the O atom]. The augmented octahedral coordination of the metal atom is completed by the N atoms of acetonitrile ligands. The V(IV) atoms are linked by two Cl atoms, acting as bridging atoms. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with a ratio of the two twin components of 0.8200?(3):0.1800?(3). Although Cl and O atoms are present as potential acceptors in the title compound, no hydrogen bonds were observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the reaction of pyridine-2-carb-oxy-lic acid and stannic chloride in methanol, one equivalent of the carb-oxy-lic acid is protonated at the amino site and is also esterified, yielding the title salt, (C(7)H(8)NO(2))[SnCl(4)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))]. The Sn(IV) atom in the anion is N,O-chelated by a pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate in a cis-SnNOCl(4) octa-hedral geometry. The cation is linked to the anion by an N-H⋯O hydrogen bond.
