ABSTRACT: In the title polymeric complex, [Cd(C(5)H(4)NO(3)S)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Cd atom is located on a centre of inversion and is coordinated by two O atoms and two N atoms, derived from four different pyridine-3-sulfonate ligands, and two O atoms derived from two water mol-ecules, forming a distorted trans-N(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. The topology of the polymer is a one-dimensional chain mediated by bridging pyridine-3-sulfonate anions. These are connected into a three-dimensional architecture via hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The hydro-thermally prepared title compound, [Co(C(2)H(6)NO(3)S)(2)](n), is isotypic with its Ni(II) analogue. The Co(II) cation is in a distorted octa-hedral environment, coordinated by four sulfonate O atoms and two N atoms from the taurine ligands. In comparison with the Ni(II) analogue, the Co-N and Co-O bonds are longer than the Ni-N and Ni-O bonds, whereas all other bond lengths and angles as well as the hydrogen-bonding motifs are very similar in the two structures. The sulfonate groups doubly bridge symmetry-related Co(II) atoms, forming polymeric chains along the a axis. N-H?O hydrogen bonding interactions consolidate the crystal packing.

Each dianion serves as a bridging ligand, connecting adjacent Pb(II) atoms into a centrosymmetric polymeric chain extending parallel to [001]. There are ?-? inter-actions between the aromatic systems of neighbouring dianions, with plane-to-plane distances of 3.371?(2)?Å, and between phenanthroline ligands, with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.484?(2)?Å. O-H?O hydrogen bonding additionally stabilizes the crystal packing. The acetic acid mol-ecules are incorporated in the voids of this arrangement. They exhibit half-occupancy due to disorder around a centre of inversion.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(6)H(9)N(2)O(3)S)(2)](n), the copper(II) ion sits on an inversion center and is chelated by the imidazole N and sulfonate O atoms of two ligands in equatorial positions. O atoms of adjacent mol-ecules coordinate in the axial positions. Jahn-Teller tetra-gonal distortion is evident in the coordination geometry [Cu-N and Cu-O equatorial distances of 1.971 (3) and 2.045 (2) Å, respectively, with a Cu-O axial distance of 2.433 (3) Å]. Project description:The environment of the Co(II) ion in the title compound, [Co(SO(4))(C(6)H(7)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), exhibits an octa-hedral configuration with the two 3-methyl-pyridine ligands lying in cis positions with respect to each other and trans to the two coordinated water mol-ecules. The axial positions are occupied by O atoms of the sulfate ions. Co and S atoms occupy special positions (twofold axis, Wyckoff position 4c). Neighboring Co(II) ions are covalently connected with each other through the sulfate ions, thus creating infinite polymeric chains that run along the c axis. The water mol-ecules are connected with neighboring sulfate ions through strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonds parallel to the propagation direction of the chains stabilize the polymeric chains, and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between chains connect neighboring chains with each other, thus leading to polymeric double chains.
