Hexakis(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)chromium(III) trichloride.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cr(C(2)H(6)OS)(6)]Cl(3), each Cr(III) ion is located on a three-fold inversion axis and is coordinated by six dimethyl-sulfoxide ligands [Cr-O = 1.970 (2)-1.972 (2) Å; O-Cr-O = 88.19 (9) and 91.81 (9)°] in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Cl(-) anions take part in the formation of weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, which contribute to the crystal packing stabilization.

An isolated Cl(-) counter-anion and a positionally disordered DMSO mol-ecule [occupancy ratio 0.654 (4):0.346 (4)] are also present. In the structure, the complex cations inter-act with the Cl(-) counter-anions and the DMSO solvent mol-ecules via weak C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional network.

In the crystal, complex cations are arranged in hexa-gonally packed rows parallel to [010], with the chloride counter-anions situated in between. The inter-actions between cations and anions are mainly ionic in nature.

Project description:The title complex, [NaRuCl(4)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(C(2)H(6)OS)(2)](n), is the sodium salt of monoanionic octa-hedral [Ru(III)Cl(4)(pyrimidine)(DMSO)](-) in which the sulfur-bound dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and pyrimidine ligand are oriented trans to one another on the Ru(III) atom. The average of the four Ru-Cl bond lengths is 2.355 (15) Å, and the Ru-S and Ru-N bond lengths are 2.2853 (3) and 2.1165 (11) Å, respectively. The complex forms a chain, with a six-coordinate sodium ion bridging the ruthenium(III) units. Project description:The title complex, [Ce(C(2)H(6)OS)(8)](2)[Mo(6)O(19)](3)·4C(2)H(6)OS, was obtained as a byproduct of the reaction of [(C(4)H(9))(4)N](2)[Mo(6)O(19)] with Ce(NO(3))(3)·6H(2)O and phthalic acid in dimethyl-sulfoxide solution. The asymmetric unit consists of a complex [Ce(C(2)H(6)OS)(8)](3+) cation, one and a half of the Lindqvist-type [Mo(6)O(19)](2-) polyanions and two dimethyl-sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules; the half polyanion lies on an inversion center. The Ce(3+) ion is coordinated by eight dimethyl-sulfoxide ligands through the O atoms in the form of a distorted square antiprism. The Ce-O bond lengths range from 2.429 (6) to 2.550 (5) Å. The cohesion of the structure is ensured by S⋯O [3.115 (6), 3.242 (10) and 3.12 (3) Å], O⋯O [3.037 (10) Å] and C-H⋯O inter-actions between cations and anions. The S and C atoms of a dmso ligand are disordered over three sites in a 0.45:0.30:0.25 ratio. The dimethyl-sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules are highly disordered and could not be modelled successfully; their contribution was therefore removed from the refinement using the SQUEEZE routine in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155]. Potential solvent-accessible voids of 500.0 Å(3) occur in the crystal structure.

The Bi(III) ion is coordinated in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, defined by two N atoms of the bipy ligand, four O atoms of two HBTC(2-) anions, two O atoms of a nitrate anion and one O atom of a dimethyl sulfoxide ligand. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The S atom of the non-coordinating dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of sites with refined site-occupancies of 0.430 (19) and 0.570 (19).

The metal atom is surrounded by the two different neutral ligands dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and water, each coordin-ating through the O atom. The anionic saccharinate (sac; 1,1,3-trioxo-2,3-dihydro-1λ(6),2-benzothia-zol-2-ide) ligand coordin-ates through the N atom. Each of the three similar ligand pairs is in a trans configuration with respect to each other. The Cd atom lies on a crystallographic center of symmetry. The DMSO ligand coordinates through the lone pair of electrons on the O atom, as can be seen from the Cd-O-S bond angle of 123.96 (9)°.
