Crystal structure of chlorido-penta-kis(dimethyl sulfoxide-?O)chromium(III) dichloride.

ABSTRACT: In the complex cation of the title salt, [CrCl(C2H6OS)5]Cl2, the Cr(III) ion is coordinated by one chloride ligand and five O atoms from dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) ligands, leading to a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment [O-Cr-O angles range from 86.69?(16) to 92.87?(16)°]. In the crystal, complex cations are arranged in hexa-gonally packed rows parallel to [010], with the chloride counter-anions situated in between. The inter-actions between cations and anions are mainly ionic in nature.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [CrCl2(C2H6OS)4]Cl·C2H6OS, consists of a Cr(III) ion coordinated by four O atoms of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) ligands and two chloride ions in cis positions, forming a distorted CrCl2O4 octa-hedron. An isolated Cl(-) counter-anion and a positionally disordered DMSO mol-ecule [occupancy ratio 0.654 (4):0.346 (4)] are also present. In the structure, the complex cations inter-act with the Cl(-) counter-anions and the DMSO solvent mol-ecules via weak C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cr(C(2)H(6)OS)(6)]Cl(3), each Cr(III) ion is located on a three-fold inversion axis and is coordinated by six dimethyl-sulfoxide ligands [Cr-O = 1.970 (2)-1.972 (2) Å; O-Cr-O = 88.19 (9) and 91.81 (9)°] in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Cl(-) anions take part in the formation of weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, which contribute to the crystal packing stabilization.

Project description:In the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)Cl(C(2)H(6)OS)], the Sn(IV) atom is coordinated by three phenyl groups, a chloride ion and a dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, weak C-H⋯π inter-actions and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.934 (3) Å. An intra-molecular C-H⋯π inter-action is also observed.

Project description:The title complex, [Ce(C(2)H(6)OS)(8)](2)[Mo(6)O(19)](3)·4C(2)H(6)OS, was obtained as a byproduct of the reaction of [(C(4)H(9))(4)N](2)[Mo(6)O(19)] with Ce(NO(3))(3)·6H(2)O and phthalic acid in dimethyl-sulfoxide solution. The asymmetric unit consists of a complex [Ce(C(2)H(6)OS)(8)](3+) cation, one and a half of the Lindqvist-type [Mo(6)O(19)](2-) polyanions and two dimethyl-sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules; the half polyanion lies on an inversion center. The Ce(3+) ion is coordinated by eight dimethyl-sulfoxide ligands through the O atoms in the form of a distorted square antiprism. The Ce-O bond lengths range from 2.429 (6) to 2.550 (5) Å. The cohesion of the structure is ensured by S⋯O [3.115 (6), 3.242 (10) and 3.12 (3) Å], O⋯O [3.037 (10) Å] and C-H⋯O inter-actions between cations and anions. The S and C atoms of a dmso ligand are disordered over three sites in a 0.45:0.30:0.25 ratio. The dimethyl-sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules are highly disordered and could not be modelled successfully; their contribution was therefore removed from the refinement using the SQUEEZE routine in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155]. Potential solvent-accessible voids of 500.0 Å(3) occur in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex salt, (C(12)H(11)ClN(5))[RuCl(4)(NO)(C(2)H(6)OS)]·H(2)O, contains a 6-(2-chloro-benzyl-amino)purinium cation, a tetra-chlorido(dimethyl sulfoxide)nitro-sylruthenate(III) anion and one solvent water mol-ecule. The Ru(III) atom is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms in the equatorial plane, and by a dimethyl sulfoxide O atom and a nitrosyl N atom in axial positions. The cation is an N3-protonated N7 tautomer. Inter-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds connect two cations into centrosymmetric dimers, with an N⋯N distance of 2.821 (4) Å. The crystal structure also involves N-H⋯O, N-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Monoclinic polymorph of chlorido-(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)tri-phenyl-tin(IV).

Project description:The crystal structure of the title tin complex, [Sn(C6H5)3Cl(C2H6OS)], (I), has been reported with one mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit in an ortho-rhom-bic cell [Kumar et al. (2009 ▸). Acta Cryst. E65, m1602-m1603]. While using SnPh3Cl as a starting material for a reaction for which the products were recrystallized over a very long time (six months) from dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), a new polymorph was obtained for (I), with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of a monoclinic cell. The coordination geometry of the Sn centres remains unchanged, with the Cl- ion and the DMSO mol-ecule in the apical positions and the phenyl C atoms in the equatorial positions of a trigonal bipyramid. The main difference between the polymorphs is the relative orientation of the phenyl rings in the equatorial plane, reflecting a degree of free rotation of these groups about their Sn-C bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into [010] chains mediated by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The SnIV atom in the title diorganotin compound, [Sn(C7H6F)2Cl2(C2H6OS)2], is located on a centre of inversion, resulting in the C2Cl2O2 donor set having an all-trans disposition of like atoms. The coordination geometry approximates an octa-hedron. The crystal features C-H⋯F, C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯π inter-actions, giving rise to a three-dimensional network. The respective influences of the Cl⋯H/H⋯Cl and F⋯H/H⋯F contacts to the mol-ecular packing are clearly evident from the analysis of the Hirshfeld surface.
