ABSTRACT: The title compound, [CdCl(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))(2)](n), has a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, formed by four N atoms from 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene ligands and two Cl atoms, giving a two-dimensional network. The Cd atom lies on a centre of inversion.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [MnCl(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))(2)](n), the Mn(II) atom, lying on an inversion center, is coordinated by four N atoms from four 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene (bimb) ligands and two Cl(-) anions in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The bimb ligands bridge the Mn(II) atoms, forming a two-dimensional polymeric complex, which is composed of a 52-membered [Mn(4)(bimb)(4)] ring with distances of 7.7812 (2) and 27.4731 (9) Å between opposite metal atoms. Weak C-H⋯π inter-actions are present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(2)(C(8)H(10)O(4))(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), the two Co(II) atoms are both five-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms, derived from two different cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (chdc) ligands, and an N atom, derived from one end of a 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene mol-ecule (1,4-bix), in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. Each end of the chdc ligand links pairs of Co(II) atoms into a paddle-wheel assembly, i.e. Co(2)(O(2)CR')(4); these are connected into rows because of the bridging nature of the chdc ligands, and the rows are further connected into a two-dimensional layer through the 1,4-bix ligands. The 1,4-bix ligand, which is disposed about a centre of inversion, is disorderd. Two positions were discerned for the -CH(2)(C(6)H(4))CH(2)- residue, with the major component having a site-occupancy factor of 0.512 (9).

Bridging by the ligands results in a layer structure of a 14.79 (5) × 14.79 (5) Å (4,4) rhombic net topology, with the Mn(II) atoms all lying on a plane. The parallel layers stack in an ABCABC… manner through inter-layer C-H⋯N and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title coordination compound, {[Zn(C(14)H(14)N(4))(2)](NO(3))(2)·CH(3)OH}(n), the cationic complex forms a looped chain containing 24-membered M(2)L(2) rings. The ligand adopts two distinct conformations that are alternated in subsequent loops. The Zn(II) ion displays a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry being coordinated by four N atoms from four 1,3-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene ligands. The nitrate ions and methanol solvent mol-ecules are located between adjacent double-stranded chains and participate in an extensive net of O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The resulting three-dimensional assembly is further stabilized by π-π inter-actions between benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.878 (2) and 3.853 (2) Å].

Two L ligands are related by a centre of symmetry and bridge Mn(II) ions, forming a positively charged polymeric chain in [101]. Uncoordinated nitrate anions further link these chains into layers parallel to the ac plane via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
