Bis(triphenyl-guanidinium) tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II).

ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound, (C(19)H(18)N(3))(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of square-planar [CuCl(4)](2-) anions and triphenyl-guanidinium cations. The Cu(II) ion occupies a crystallographic inversion centre. In the cation, the dihedral angles between the phenyl rings and the plane defined by the central guanidinium fragment are in the range 51.9 (4)-64.4 (3)°. N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds assemble the ions into infinite chains running along the b axis.

Project description:In the structure of the title salt, (C5H14N3)2[CuCl4], the Cu(II) atom in the anion lies on a twofold rotation axis. The tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II) anion adopts a flattened tetra-hedral coordination environment and inter-acts electrostatically with the tetra-methyl-guanidinium cation. The crystal packing is additionally consolidated through N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional network structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (CH(6)N(3))(4)[Cu(C(6)H(5)O(7))(2)]·2H(2)O, contains one-half of a centrosymmetric Cu(II) complex anion, two guanidinium cations and a water mol-ecule. The Cu(II) ion, lying on a crystallographic inversion center, is hexa-coordinated with two citrate anions in a distorted octahedral geometry. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional framework by inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Bis(1-methyl-piperidinium) tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II).

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(6)H(14)N)(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of two inequivalent 1-methyl-piperidinium cations and a flattened tetra-hedral [CuCl(4)](2-) anion. Each organic cation exhibits a chair conformation with the methyl group in the equatorial position. They are segregated into alternating layers parallel to (100) and stacked along [100]. The first cation is arranged in parallel stacks in a herringbone pattern with rows of [CuCl(4)](2-) anions fitting between the stacks and with a Cl(-) ion directed into the inter-ior of the layer. The second organic cation forms distorted hcp layers that separate the other organic cation/[CuCl(4)](2-) slabs. N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anions consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:The title compound, (C(6)H(8)N)(2)[CuCl(4)], is composed of two 3-methyl-pyridinium cation and one tetra-chloridocuprate(II) anion. The geometry around the copper(II) ion is that of a distorted tetra-hedron. In the crystal structure, the anions and cations are linked by three different N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. In addition, the crystal structure exhibits aromatic π-π inter-actions between the pyridinium rings of two discrete units [centroid-centroid distance = 3.704 (2) Å].

Project description:The structure of the title salt, (C(6)H(8)N)(2)[CuCl(3.4)Br(0.6)], consists of two 3-methyl-pyridinium cations and a distorted tetra-hedral [CuCl(3.4)Br(0.6)](2-) dianion. Substitutional disorder with Br is exhibited for three of the Cl atoms of the anion, giving a mixed chloride/bromide cuprate(II) anion. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link two cations to one anion, forming a three-ion aggregate. These are connected into a supra-molecular chain along the b axis via π-π inter-actions between the pyridinium rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.743 (3) Å].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, (C7H11N2)2[CuCl4], comprises half a tetrahedral tetra-chlorido-cuprate anion, being located on a twofold axis, and a protonated 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine cation. The geometry around the Cu(II) ion is highly distorted with the range of Cl-Cu-Cl angles being 94.94 (1)-141.03 (1)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. In the three-dimensional network, cations and anions pack in the lattice so as to generate chains of [CuCl4](2-) anions separated by two orientations of cation layers, which are inter-locked through π-π stacking contacts between pairs of pyridine rings, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.7874 (7) Å.

Project description:The Hg atom in the crystal structure of the title compound, (CH(6)N(3))(2)[HgI(4)], is tetra-hedrally coordinated by four I atoms. The [HgI(4)](2-) ions are inter-connected to the [C(NH(2))(3)](+) ions by N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The four different observed Hg-I distances [2.760 (2), 2.7762 (15), 2.8098 (14) and 2.833 (2) Å] are consistent with four different (127)I NQR frequencies observed, showing the existence of four unique I atoms in the tetra-iodidomercurate unit.

Project description:The title compound, (C6H8N)2[CuCl4], crystallizes in the monoclinic space group I2/c. The coordination around the copper atom is a distorted tetra-hedron. The 2-methyl-pyridinium ion (C6H8N+) inter-acts with the tetra-chloro-cuprate anion through N-H⋯Cl and C-H(phen-yl)⋯Cl contacts, forming a hydrogen-bonded layer-like structure. The supra-molecular structure is further stabilized by C-H(meth-yl)⋯Cl inter-actions between the layers.

Crystal structure of the thermochromic bis-(di-ethyl-ammonium) tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II) complex.

Project description:In the structure of the title complex salt, (Et2NH2)2[CuCl4], the asymmetric unit consists of four unique di-ethyl-ammonium cations and three unique tetra-chlorido-cuprate anions. Two of the three anions are located with their copper atoms on independent crystallographic twofold axes, while the remaining tetra-chlorido-cuprate is located at a general position of the ortho-rhom-bic space group P21212. Two of the three Cu atoms adopt a distorted square-planar/disphenoidal geometry and the third Cu atom has a regular square-planar coordination environment. The di-ethyl-ammonium cations form an extensive hydrogen-bonded network through N-H⋯Cl inter-actions with the tetra-chlorido-cuprate anions, resulting in a two-dimensional sheet-like hydrogen-bonded network parallel to the ab direction. The complex was observed to undergo a color shift from deep green at room temperature to pale yellow at temperatures above 328 K.
