Project description:In the title compound, C(16)H(28)N(4)O(8)·2H(2)O, the 12-membered macrocycle has twofold crystallographic symmetry and the asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol-ecule. The four carbox-yl/carboxyl-ate groups reside on the same side of the macrocycle. The mol-ecule is a double zwitterion with two of the carb-oxy-lic acid H atoms transferred to the two N atoms on the opposite sides of the macrocycle, resulting in both N atoms having positive charges and leaving the two resulting carboxyl-ate groups with negative charges. The two remaining carb-oxy-lic acid groups and the carboxyl-ate groups form O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds with the crystal water mol-ecules. The H atoms bound to the N atoms within the macrocyle are engaged in two equivalent hydrogen bonds with the adjacent N atoms.

Project description:In the organic cation of the title compound, C(13)H(20)N(3) (+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, the two pyrrolidine rings adopt twisted conformations. The pyridine ring makes dihedral angles of 14.57 (6) and 23.96 (6)° with the mean planes of the pyrrolidine rings. In the crystal structure, pairs of bifurcated inter-molecular O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the water mol-ecules and chloride anions into an R(4) (4)(8) ring motif. Inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds further inter-connect these rings with the organic cations into a two-dimensional network parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:The title complex, [CuCl(C(15)H(11)N(3))(H(2)O)]Cl·H(2)O, is composed of a monocation that possesses mirror symmetry. The Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, being coordinated by the three N atoms of the terpyridine ligand and a Cl atom in the equatorial plane, and by a water mol-ecule O atom in the axial position. The charges are balanced by a chloride anion positionally disorded over two positions related by the mirror symmetry. The compound crystallizes as a monohydrate, with the water mol-ecule also being positionally disordered over two positions related by the mirror symmetry. In the crystal, the various components of the complex are linked via O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network in the ab plane. There are also a number of C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O inter-actions which stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound {systematic name: 3-carb-oxy-2-[2-(3-carb-oxy-pyridin-2-yl)disulfan-1-yl)]pyridin-1-ium chloride monohydrate}, C12H9N2O4S2+·Cl-·H2O, crystallizes in the triclinic space group P . A pair of 2-mercaptonicotinic acid moieties is connected by a 2,2'-di-sulfide bond with a dihedral angle of 78.79 (3)°. One of the N atom is protonated, as are both carboxyl-ate groups, resulting in an overall +1 charge on the dimer. The structure comprises a zigzagging layer of the dimerized di-thio-dinicotinic acid rings, with charge-balancing chloride ions and water mol-ecules between the layers. Hydrogen bonding between the chloride and water sites with the dimer appears to hold the structure together. Nearest neighbor nicotinic acid rings are offset when viewed down the a axis, suggesting no added stability from ring stacking. The asymmetric unit corresponds to the empirical formula of the compound, and it packs with two formula units per unit cell.
