Rac-N-{6-[Bromo-(hydr-oxy)meth-yl]-2-pyrid-yl}pivalamide.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(11)H(15)BrN(2)O(2), contains an amide group which is close to coplanar with the adjacent pyridine ring, the dihedral angle between the planes being 9.0?(5)°. The mol-ecular packing reveals a mutual hydrogen-bond inter-action between centrosymmetrically related hydroxyl O atoms. Further hydrogen bonding involving O-H?Br and N-H?Br inter-actions also appears to consolidate the packing.

Project description:The title acetamide compound, C(8)H(9)BrN(2)O, crystallizes with three crystallographically independent mol-ecules (A, B and C) in the asymmetric unit. In mol-ecule A, the mean plane through the acetamide unit is inclined at a dihedral angle of 4.40 (11)° with respect to the pyridine ring [10.31 (12) and 2.27 (11)°, respectively, for mol-ecules B and C]. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are inter-connected into sheets parallel to the ac plane by N-H⋯O, C-H⋯Br, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. The structure is further stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(40)H(28)N(4)O)], was obtained from a Grignard reaction of the respective formyl-porphyrin to yield {5-[hy-droxy(phen-yl)meth-yl]-10,20-diphenyl-porphyrinato}nickel(II), followed by crystallization from methyl-ene chloride/methanol. The mol-ecule exhibits a ruffled macrocycle with an average deviation of the 24 macrocycle atoms from their least-squares plane (Δ24) of 0.26 Å and an average Ni-N bond length of 1.931 (2) Å. In line with the asymmetrical substituent pattern, the degree of distortion is slightly larger at point of attachment of the meth-oxy(phen-yl)methyl residue than at the unsubstituted meso position. The meth-oxy group attached to the chiral C atom is disordered in a 0.534 (4):0.466 (4) ratio.
