Trans-Diaqua-bis[(E)-3-(dimethyl-amino)-1-(2-pyrid-yl)prop-2-en-1-one-?N,O]cobalt(II) dinitrate dihydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(C(10)H(12)N(2)O)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2)·2H(2)O, the Co(II) ion, located on an inversion center, is trans-coordinated by two N,O-bidentate chelating (E)-3-(dimethyl-amino)-1-(2-pyrid-yl)prop-2-en-1-one ligands and by two water mol-ecules in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the cations, anions and water mol-ecules into layers parallel to the ac plane. The crystal packing also exhibits weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(3)S)(2)(C(2)H(6)OS)(2)(H(2)O)(2)], contains a Co(2+) cation in an octa-hedral coordination environment. The metal atom is surrounded by two different neutral ligands, namely dimethyl-sulfoxide (DMSO) and water, each coordinating through the O atom. The anionic saccharinate (sac; 1,1,3-trioxo-2,3-dihydro-1?(6),2-benzothia-zol-2-ide) ligand coordinates through the N atom. Each of the three similar ligand pairs is in a trans configuration with respect to each other. The Co atom lies on a crystallographic center of symmetry and the octa-hedral geometry is not significantly distorted. A short O-H?O hydrogen bond is present between a water H atom and the ketone O atom; two longer hydrogen bonds (intra- and inter-molecular) are also present between a water H and a sulfonic O atom, forming a supramolecular assembly through head-to-tail aggregation between adjacent complexes.

Project description:The title compound, {[Co(C10H8N2)2(H2O)2](NO3)2·4H2O} n , (C10H8N2 = 4,4'-bipyridine = 4,4'-bpy) is a layered coordination polymer built up from a cationic square grid extending in (101) enclosing uncoordinating nitrate ions and water mol-ecules. The Co(II) ion has site symmetry 2 and one of the 4,4'-bpy ligands is generated by twofold symmetry [two N atoms and two C atoms lie on the rotation axis and the dihedral angle between the pyridine rings is 45.66?(5)°]. The other 4,4'-bpy ligand is generated by a crystallographic inversion center. The Co(II) ion exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry defined by two O atoms of two coordinating water mol-ecules and four N atoms from four bridging 4,4'-bpy ligands. The structure is consolidated by O-H?O, C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds.

The Cu(II) atom in the [Cu(en)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cation (en is ethyl-enediamine) lies on an inversion centre. The four N atoms of the en ligands in the equatorial plane around the Cu(II) atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, while the slightly distorted Jahn-Teller octa-hedral coordination is completed by two water O atoms in axial positions. Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(12)H(10)N(6))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](C(8)H(4)NO(6))(2), is composed of a mononuclear cobalt(II) cation and two 3-carb-oxy-5-nitro-benzoate anions for charge balance. In the cation, the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. It bonds to two O atoms of two water mol-ecules, and two pairs of N atoms from two 4-amino-3,5-bis-(2-pyrid-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole mol-ecules, which behave as bidentate chelating ligands. There are intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds in the cation. In the crystal, there are a number of inter-molecular N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, as well as inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.657?(2) and 3.847?(2)?Å], that link the mol-ecules into two-dimensional networks lying parallel to the ab plane.
