Catena-Poly[[bis-(2-hydr-oxy-2-phenyl-acetato-κO,O)zinc(II)]-μ-1,2-di-4-pyridylethane-κN:N'].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Zn(C(8)H(6)O(3))(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))](n), consists of [Zn(Hopa)(2)] (H(2)opa = 2-hydr-oxy-2-phenyl-acetic acid or mandelic acid) units bridged by 1,2-di-4-pyridylethane (bpe) ligands, forming a polymeric chain developing parallel to the b axis. The bridging bpe ligand is arranged around a twofold axis passing through the middle of the ethane C-C bond. The geometry around the Zn(II) ion is distorted octa-hedral, constructed by four O atoms from two Hopa(-) ligands and two N atoms from two bridging bpe ligands. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the chains, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, {[Cd(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(20)H(16)N(6)S(2))]·3H(2)O}(n), exists as a one-dimensional zigzag polymer in which the Cd(II) ion shows a seven-coordinate [CdO(5)N(2)] distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry with the N atoms in axial positions and an N-Cd-N angle of 176.94 (13)°. The metal atoms are bridged by 1,2-bis-[4-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-ylsulfan-yl]ethane ligands, giving a polymeric chain extending along the b axis. Adjacent chains related by an inversion center are further bridged by Cd-O bonds formed between the O atom of one of the acetate ligands and the metal atom. The five Cd-O bond lengths are in the range 2.329 (3)-2.485 (3) Å. There are π-π stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings of adjacent polymeric chains, the centroid-centroid distances being 3.556 (3) and 3.698 (3) Å, organizing the chains into a three-dimensional framework. This framework is additionally stabilized by extensive O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonding between water mol-ecules and the ligands.

Each Pr(III) atom is thus nine-coordinated by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and seven O atoms from six phenoxy-acetate ligands. The coordination geometry at the Pr(III) atom is distorted tricapped trigonal prismatic. One phenyl ring is disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.6 and 0.4.

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric binuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(2)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(4)(C(9)H(7)N)(2)], the two Cu cations are bridged by four carboxyl-ate groups of the phenyl-acetate anions; each Cu cation is further coordinated by an isoquinoline ligand to complete the distorted CuO(4)N square-pyramidal geometry. The Cu cation is displaced by 0.2092 (8) Å from the basal plane formed by the four O atoms. Within the dinuclear mol-ecule, the Cu⋯Cu separation is 2.6453 (6) Å. Although a parallel, overlapped arrangement of isoquinoline ligands exists in the crystal structure; the longer face-to-face distance of 3.667 (5) Å suggests there is no π-π stacking between isoquinoline ring systems.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Zn(2)(C(13)H(9)N(2))(C(3)H(6)NO(2))(3)](n), displays a long chiral chain. This is composed of zinc-dimer clusters capped by dimethyl-carbamate ligands, which lie on crystallographic twofold rotation axes and are polymerically linked in one dimension by 2-phenyl-benzimidadole (2-PBImi) organic ligands. The two Zn(2+) ions defining the dimetal cluster are crystallographically independent, but display very similar coordination modes and tetra-hedral geometry. As such, each Zn(2+) ion is coordinated on one side by the N-donor imidazole linker, while the other three available coordination sites are fully occupied by the O atoms from the capping dimethyl-carbamates. The chirality of the chain extends along the c axis, generating a rather long 52.470 (11) Å cell axis. Inter-estingly, the chiral material crystallizes from completely achiral precursors. A twofold axis and 3(1) screw axis serve to generate the long asymmetric unit.
