ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))], the Co(II) atom is coordinated in a tetra-hedral geometry by the N atoms of two different 1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane ligands. The compound adopts a linear chain structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(13)H(14)N(2))](n), 1,3-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)propane (bpp) ligands bridge four-coordinate Co atoms, generating an extended one-dimensional zigzag chain. Both the Co and two Cl atoms in the tetrahedral coordination polyhedron lie on a mirror plane, while the bbp ligand is bis-ected through the central C atom in the chain by a second mirror plane. There are some π-π stacking inter-ations in the crystal structure, with inter-planar distances of 3.449 Å, which are responsible for the supra-molecular assembly.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(C(8)H(6)O(3))(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))](n), consists of [Zn(Hopa)(2)] (H(2)opa = 2-hydr-oxy-2-phenyl-acetic acid or mandelic acid) units bridged by 1,2-di-4-pyridylethane (bpe) ligands, forming a polymeric chain developing parallel to the b axis. The bridging bpe ligand is arranged around a twofold axis passing through the middle of the ethane C-C bond. The geometry around the Zn(II) ion is distorted octa-hedral, constructed by four O atoms from two Hopa(-) ligands and two N atoms from two bridging bpe ligands. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the chains, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Ni(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(5))(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O}(n), two Ni(II) ions, two tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate N-oxide ligands and two coordinated water mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dinuclear units, which are further bridged by centrosymmetric 1,2-di-4-pyridylethane ligands into polymeric chains along [210]. Each Ni(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal environment, with the basal plane formed by three O [Ni-O = 1.9290 (16)-1.9588 (10) Å] and one N [Ni-N = 1.9828 (18) Å] atoms and the apical position occupied by the water mol-ecule [Ni-O = 2.2643 (11) Å]. The water mol-ecules are involved in the formation of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {(C(12)H(14)N(2))[Fe(NCS)(4)]}(n), the iron(II) cation is coordinated by four N-bonded and two S-bonded thio-cyanate anions in a distorted octa-hedral coordination mode. The asymmetric unit consists of half an iron(II) cation and half a protonated (E)-4,4'-(ethane-1,2-di-yl)dipyridinium dication, each located on a centre of inversion. In addition, there are two thio-cyanate anions in general positions. The crystal structure consists of Fe-(NCS)(2)-Fe chains in which each iron(II) cation is additionally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions. Non-coordinating dipyridinium dications are present between the thiocyanatoferrate(II) chains and are connected to the anions via N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S hydrogen-bond interactions.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(6)H(12)N(2))](n), each Hg(II) center within the chain is four-coordinated by one terminal Cl atom, two bridging μ(2)-Cl atoms, and one N-atom donor from a μ(2)-1,4-diaza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octane (μ(2)-daco) ligand in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The daco ligand acts as an end-to-end bridging ligand and bridges adjacent Hg(II) centers, forming a chain running along [001]. Weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the chains into a three-dimensional network. Comparison of the structural differences with previous findings suggests that the space between the two N donors, as well as the skeletal rigidity in N-heterocyclic linear ligands, may play an important role in the construction of such supra-molecular networks.

Project description:The title polymeric complex, [HgI(2)(C(10)H(14)N(2))](n), was prepared from a solution of nicotine, mercury(II) iodide and 4-cyano-pyridine in dimethyl-formamide. Each nicotine mol-ecule is bonded to two Hg atoms, one through the pyrrolidine N atom and the other through the pyridine N atom, forming infinite zigzag polymeric chains. The coordin-ation around mercury is completed by two iodide ligands, resulting in a distorted tetra-hedral arrangement.
