ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(18)H(18)N(2)O, the cyclo-hexene and cyclo-hexane rings of the bicyclo-[2.2.2]oct-5-ene unit adopt distorted boat conformations. In the crystal, mol-ecules exist as C-H?N hydrogen-bonded centrosymmetric R(2) (2)(14) dimers, which are further linked by C-H?? inter-actions.

Porous Metal-Organic Cages Based on Rigid Bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-7-ene Type Ligands: Synthesis, Structure, and Gas Uptake Properties.

Project description:Three new ligands containing a bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-7-ene-2,3,5,6-tetracarboxydiimide unit have been used to assemble lantern-type metal-organic cages with the general formula [Cu4 L4 ]. Functionalisation of the backbone of the ligands leads to distinct crystal packing motifs between the three cages, as observed with single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The three cages vary in their gas sorption behaviour, and the capacity of the materials for CO2 is found to depend on the activation conditions: softer activation conditions lead to superior uptake, and one of the cages displays the highest BET surface area found for lantern-type cages so far.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title cocrystal, 2C(24)H(18)ClNO(2)·C(6)H(12)N(2), the 1,4-diaza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octane mol-ecule is located on a twofold rotation axis and linked to the two triaryl-imine mol-ecules by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming a 2:1 aggregate. C-H⋯Cl inter-actions are also observed. In the triaryl-imine mol-ecule, the naphthalene ring system makes dihedral angles of 80.39 (6) and 82.35 (6)°, respectively, with the phenyl and benzene rings. The dihedral angle between these two latter rings is 87.09 (7)°.

Project description:In the title methanol solvate, C(20)H(24)N(2)O(2)·CH(4)O, an L-shaped conformation is found as the two substituents at the central hydr-oxy group are almost orthogonal to each other [the C-C-C angle at the central sp(3)-C atom is 110.12?(13)°]. The most notable feature of the crystal packing is the formation of supra-molecular chains along the b direction mediated by O-H?N hydrogen bonds occurring between the hydr-oxy and quinoline N atoms; the methanol mol-ecules are linked to these chains via O-H?N(amine) hydrogen bonds. C-H?O inter-actions also occur.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(24)H(22)O(4), contains two independent mol-ecules in both of which the naphthalene ring systems adopts a transoid arrangement. The dihedral angles between the naphthalene ring system in the two mol-ecules are 83.0 (1) and 89.0 (1)°. There are slight differences in the C(H(3))-O-C(H(2))-O- torsion angles of the eqivalent meth-oxy-meth-oxy groups. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present.
