Poly[bis-(4,4'-bipyridine)(μ(3)-4,4'-dicarboxybiphenyl-3,3'-di-carboxyl-ato)iron(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the polymeric title complex, [Fe(C(16)H(8)O(8))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), the iron(II) cation is coordinated by four O atoms from three different 4,4'-dicarboxybiphenyl-3,3'-di-carboxyl-ate ligands and two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The 4,4'-dicarboxybiphenyl-3,3'-di-carboxyl-ate ligands bridge adjacent cations, forming chains parallel to the c axis. The chains are further connected by inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional supra-molecular layers parallel to (010).

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C(12)H(6)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Mn atoms are each coordinated by four O atoms of naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two N atoms of two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine ligands within a strongly distorted octa-hedra. Two of the O atoms originate from one naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anion, whereas the remaining two O atoms derive from two symmetry-equivalent naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions. Two Mn atoms are connected via the anions into dimers, which are further linked by the anions and the N-donor ligands into a three-dimensional coordination network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(11)H(16)N(4))](n), the Cu atom is coordinated by two N atoms of two 3,3',5,5'-tetra-methyl-4,4'-methyl-enedipyrazole (H(2)mbdpz) ligands, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom, forming a square-pyramidal geometry. The bridging Cl atoms and the bridging H(2)mbdpz ligands connect the Cu atoms to build up an extended one-dimensional chain. The chains are further connected through N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to build up a two-dimensional layer in the (011) plane. An inversion centre lies between every pair of adjacent Cu atoms.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(9)H(5)O(6))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the asymmetric unit consists of one Co(2+) ion with site symmetry 2, one mono-deprotonated 1,3,5-benzene-tricarboxylic acid anion and one-half of a 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) mol-ecule, in which two N and two C atoms have site symmetry 2. In the crystal structure, the Co(2+) centre is coordinated by four O atoms from two bidentate carboxyl-ate groups of two anions and two N atoms of two 4,4'-bipy mol-ecules, resulting in infinite chains propagating in [010]. The cobalt coordination is distorted trans-CoO(4)N(2) octa-hedral and inter-chain O-H?O hydrogen bonds complete the structure.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title mixed-ligand coordination polymer, [Nd(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Nd(III) ion is in an octa-hedral coordination environment formed by one water mol-ecule, one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, and five monodentate carboxyl-ate groups. The local coordination polyhedron around the Nd(III) ion is a bicapped trigonal prism. Two Nd(III) centers are bridged by four carboxyl-ate groups to form an Nd(2) dimeric unit; these are further connected by 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate linkers, resulting in a layered coordination network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(5)(C(12)H(12)O(4))(4)(OH)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), consists of three Zn(II) ions (one of which is located on a twofold rotation axis), two 5-tert-butyl-isophthalate ligands, one 4,4'-bipyridine ligand and one hydroxide group. The five Zn(II) ions form a penta-nuclear zinc cluster, which is further bridged by ten organic ligands, forming two-dimensional sheets. The central zinc ion of the cluster has site symmetry 2 and is octahedrally coordinated in a N(2)O(4) donor set, whereas the other four zinc atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated by four O atoms. The coordination modes for the 5-tert-butyl-isophthalates are bis-(bidentate) or bidentate-monodentate. Hydrogen bonds are formed between adjacent sheets through the hydroxide groups and the O atoms of the monodentate carboxyl-ate groups. The two tert-butyl groups are disordered over two positions with ratios of 0.64 (2):0.36 (2) and 0.85 (3):0.15 (3).

Both of the Co(II) ions are coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Four L ligands bind to each pair of Co(II) atoms in a plane, two of which bridge the two Co(II) atoms as bidentate groups while the other two coordinate to a single Co(II) atom in a monodentate mode. Two half-mol-ecules of 4,4'-bipyridine coordinate the Co(II) atoms from the upside and underside. The packing features extensice O-H?O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:In the layered title coordination polymer, {[Ba(2)(C(5)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)(7)](C(5)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)}(n), the coordination geometries around the two independent Ba(II) ions can be described as bicapped square-anti-prismatic [BaNO(9)] arrangements. A two-dimensional polymeric framework with (6,3) topology can be observed in the ac plane, the nodes being provided by Ba(II) ions and the connectors being N and O atoms belonging to pyrazine-2-carboxyl-ate ligands and O atoms of bridging water mol-ecules. Non-coordinating pyrazine-2-carboxyl-ate ions are located between the polymeric layers in the crystal and are interconnected through extensive O-H⋯N,O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(HCOO)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Cd(II) ion, located on a position with 2.22 site symmetry, is surrounded by two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands and four formate ligands in a distorted octahedral CdN(2)O(4) coordination. The 4,4'-bipyridine ligands bridge the metal ions, forming one-dimensional chains along different directions, which are further connected by formate ligands into a topologically (10(10).12(4).14)(10)(3) three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, [Li2(C12H6O4)(H2O)2] n , crystallizes with one half of the molecular entities in the asymmetric unit. The second half is gererated by inversion symmetry. The crystal structure has a layered arrangement built from distorted edge-sharing LiO3(OH)2 tetra-hedra parallel to (100), with naphthalenedi-carboxyl-ate bridging the LiO3(OH)2 layers along the [100] direction. Hydrogen bonding between the water molecule and adjacent carboxylate groups consolidates the packing.
