ABSTRACT: In the title Grignard reagent, [MgBr(C(12)H(9))(C(5)H(10)O)(2)], the Mg centre adopts a distorted tetra-hedral MgCO(2)Br arrangement. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings of the biphenyl residue is 44.00?(14)°. Each mol-ecule incorporates one R- and one S-configured 2-methyl-tetra-hydro-furan mol-ecule.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [MnCl(2)(C(5)H(10)O(2))(2)], was solved from low-temperature data collected at 100 (2) K. The asymmetric unit contains one half-mol-ecule with the Mn(II) ion located on a twofold axis. A distorted octa-hedral environment around the Mn atom is formed by two ether and two hydroxyl O atoms of two 2-(hydroxy-methyl)tetra-hydro-furan ligands, and by two chloride ions. The chelating tetra-hydro-furan ligands, which form five-membered rings, are cis oriented. The crystal structure is stabilized by hydrogen bonding between the coordinated OH groups and the chloride ions.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mo(2)(C(7)F(5)O(2))(4)(C(4)H(8)O)(2)], two independent half-mol-ecules are present, which are completed by a crystallographically imposed center of inversion between the individual Mo atoms. In each mol-ecule, four penta-fluoro-benzoate anions bridge the quadruply bonded Mo(2) (4+) unit that is, in addition, axially coordinated by two O atoms of tetra-hydro-furan (THF) mol-ecules. In the two independent mol-ecules, the mean Mo-Mo bond length is 2.110 Å. Since the THF mol-ecules are equally disordered over two sets of sites, there are four different Mo-O distances in both half-mol-ecules with an overall mean of 2.542 Å. A zigzag chain is formed by π-π stacking inter-actions between penta-fluoro-phenyl rings, indicated by a centroid-centroid distance of 3.7054 (11) Å and a centroid-to-plane distance of 3.4169 (3) Å. The extension of the unit gives a three-dimensional network structure with the THF mol-ecules located in the voids.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(CF3SO3)2(C4H8O)4], is octa-hedral with two tri-fluoro-methane-sulfonate ligands in trans positions and four tetra-hydro-furane mol-ecules in the equatorial plane. By the conformation of the ligands the complex is chiral in the crystal packing. The compound crystallizes in the Sohncke space group P212121 and is enanti-omerically pure. The packing of the mol-ecules is determined by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal studied was refined as a two-component inversion twin.

Project description:The title compound, {Al[O-2,6-(Ph2CH)2-4- t BuC6H2]Et2(THF)} or [Al(C2H5)2(C36H33O)(C4H8O)], was formed in the reaction between 4-tert-butyl-2,6-bis-(di-phenyl-meth-yl)phenol and tri-ethyl-aluminum in the presence of THF (THF is tetra-hydro-furan) and recrystallized from hexane. The structure has monoclinic (P21/n) symmetry with a single Al atom in the asymmetric unit. The terminal C atom of one ethyl substituent is nearly equally disordered over two positions. The complex possesses catalytic activity in the ring-opening polymerization of ∊-caprolactone.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [PdCl(2)(C(12)H(16)N(3)O)]·0.5C(4)H(8)O, consists of one palladium complex in a general position and one half tetra-hydro-furan (THF) solvent mol-ecule, with the O atom lying on a twofold rotation axis. The Pd(II) atom is bound to one chelating imino nitroxide radical through two N atoms, one from the pyridyl ring and the other from the imidazoline ring. The coordination of the metal centre is completed by two Cl atoms in a cis configuration, leading to a quasi-square-planar coordination of the metal centre. The four atoms that define the Pd(II) coordination environment and the eight atoms that belong to the pyridylimine fragment are coplanar, with no deviation larger than 0.087?(5)?Å. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular inter-actions shorter than the corresponding van der Waals radii sum are observed only between Pd(II) complexes, and no short contact is observed around the THF mol-ecule. Weak C-H?O and C-H?Cl inter-actions yield a two-dimensional network of complexes in the (101) plane.

Project description:The title chain polymer compound, [GaLi(2)Br(C(3)H(9)OSi)(4)(C(4)H(8)O)(2)](n), was obtained in the reaction of GaBr(3) with Me(3)SiOLi in toluene/tetra-hydro-furan. The Ga(III) atom, located on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by four trimethyl-silanolate ligands and has a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The Li(I) atom is four coordinated by one bridging Br atom located on an inversion centre, two trimethyl-silanolate ligands and one tetra-hydro-furane mol-ecule in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The polymeric chains extend along [001]. The tetra-hydro-furane mol-ecule is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.57 (2) and 0.43 (2).

The Mg(II) ion is hexa-coordinated to four tetra-hydro-furan (THF) ligands, and two AlH(4) (-) anions through bridging H atoms. The Al-H distances are more precise compared to those previously determined [Nöth et al. (1995 ?). Chem. Ber. 128, 999-1006; Fichtner & Fuhr (2002 ?). J. Alloys Compd, 345, 386-396]. The mol-ecule has twofold rotation symmetry.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)N(2)O(6))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·C(4)H(8)O, features a penta-coordinate Cu(II) atom bound by two monodentate carboxyl-ate ligands, a bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule [dihedral angle between pyridine rings = 5.0 (2)°] and a water mol-ecule. The resulting N(2)O(3) donor set defines a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with the coordinated water mol-ecule in the apical position. In the crystal, the presence of O-H(w)⋯O(c) (w = water and c = carbon-yl) hydrogen bonding leads to the formation of a supra-molecular chain propagating along the c axis, which associates into a double chain via C-H⋯ O and π-π contacts between pyridyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.527 (3) Å]. The solvent mol-ecules, which are disordered over two orientations in a 0.678 (11):0.322 (11) ratio, occupy voids defined by the complex mol-ecules and are held in place via C-H⋯O inter-actions.

The C-Al-C angles range from 113.25 (7) to 116.27 (8)°, much larger than the O-Al-C angles, which range from 103.39 (7) to 103.90 (6)°. The tetra-hydro-furan ring adopts an envelope conformation. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions.
