ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [ZnCl(2)(C(12)H(11)N(3))], the Zn(II) atom is four-coordinated by two N atoms from an N-(2-pyridylmethyl-ene)benzene-1,4-diamine ligand and two Cl atoms in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are connected by N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional layer structure parallel to (110).

The Zn(II) atom is five-coordinate, binding to the imine N, pyridine N, and amine N atoms of the Schiff base ligand and to two bromide anions in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. Project description:The title dinuclear platinum compound, [Pt(2)Cl(4)(C(22)H(16)N(4))(C(2)H(6)S)(2)], with a long bridging bipyridyl-type ligand, is centrosymmetric and the Pt(II) cation shows a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry. The Cl ligands are trans to each other, with a Cl-Pt-Cl angle of 178.83?(8)°. The pyridine ring forms a dihedral angle of 48.8?(2)° with the planar PtCl(2)SN unit. Within the mol-ecule, the distance between Pt atoms is 20.262?(5)?Å and the N?N separation between the terminal pyridyl rings is 16.23?(1)Å.
