Triimidazolium tris-(pyridine-2,6-di-carboxyl-ato)dysprosate(III) trihydrate.

ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound, (C(3)N(2)H(5))(3)[Dy(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)]·3H(2)O, contains a mononuclear Dy(III) complex with the rare earth metal cation in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic environment. The Dy(III) ion is in each case O,N,O'-chelated by three tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions. Three protonated imidazole mol-ecules act as counter-cations and three lattice water mol-ecules are also present. Numerous N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding inter-actions, some of which are bifurcated, help to stabilize the packing of the structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)Tb(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(4)]NO(3)·4H(2)O, consists of one-half of the C(2)-symmetric trinuclear coordination cation, one-half of the C(2)-symmetric nitrate anion and two water mol-ecules. In the coordination cation, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from a bridging-chelating carboxyl-ate group of the pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anion, completing a distorted N(4)O(2) octa-hedral coordination environment. The Tb(III) atom, located on a twofold rotation axis, is nine-coordinated by three tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions forming an N(3)O(6) donor set. The intra-molecular Cu⋯Tb distance of 5.0592 (11) Å indicates weak inter-actions between the Cu(II) and Tb(III) atoms. The coordination cations, nitrate anions and water mol-ecules are connected via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to the (001) plane. Moreover, there are extensive π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 4.332 (7) and 3.878 (5) Å] between the phenanthroline ligands and between phenanthroline and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligands.

Project description:The title compound, (C(4)H(12)N(2))(3)[Nd(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)](2)·15.33H(2)O or (pipzH(2))(3)[Nd(pydc)(3)](2)·15.33H(2)O (in which pipz is piperazine and pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized by the reaction of NdCl(3)·6H(2)O with the proton-transfer compound (pipzH(2))(pydc) in aqueous solution. The nine donor atoms of the three pydc(2-) ligands form a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic arrangement around the Nd(III) center. Considerable C-O⋯π stacking inter-actions between CO groups of carboxyl-ate fragments and aromatic rings of pydc(2-) with distances of 3.135 (5)-3.255 (5) Å are observed. In the crystal structure, a wide range of hydrogen-bonding [of the types O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O, with D⋯A distances ranging from 2.608 (10) to 3.278 (7) Å], ion-pairing and C-O⋯π stacking interactions connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure. There is a high degree of solvent disorder in the structure; the occupancies of five water molecules refined to 0.6, 0.5, 0.4, 0.25 and 0.25.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(4)H(12)N(2))[Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n) or {(pipzH(2))[Bi(2)(pydc)(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), where pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and pipz is piperazine, was obtained by reaction of Bi(NO(3))(3)·5H(2)O with (pipzH(2))(pydc-H)(2)·3H(2)O in a 1:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution. There are two independent Bi(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is eight-coordinate with a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, and another which is nine-coordinate with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The carboxyl-ate groups of the (pydc)(2-) ligands link dinuclear [Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)](2-) units into one-dimensional coordin-ation polymers. The pipzH(2) (2+) cations (site symmetry ) and non-coordinated water mol-ecules lie between these polymers, forming N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the O atoms of the carboxylate groups.

In the crystal, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and offset π-π stacking inter-actions [inter-centroid distances = 3.551 (1) and 3.746 (1) Å] involving inversion-related pyridine rings link the polymeric chains and lattice water mol-ecules to form a supra-molecular three-dimensional framework.

Project description:Colourless block crystals of the title compound, Cs(3)[Lu(dipic)(3)]·8H(2)O [dipic is dipicolinate or pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate, C(7)H(3)NO(4)] were synthesized by slow evaporation of the solvent. The crystal structure of this Lu(III)-complex, isostructural with the Dy(III) and Eu(III) complexes, was determined from a crystal twinned by inversion and consists of discrete [Lu(dipic)(3)](3-) anions, Cs(+) cations and water mol-ecules involving hydrogen bonding. The Lu atom lies on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by six O atoms and three N atoms of three dipicolinate ligands. One Cs atom is also on a twofold axis. The unit cell can be regarded as successive layers along the crystallographic c-axis formed by [Lu(dipic)(3)](3-) anionic planes and [Cs(+), H(2)O] cationic planes. In the crystal structure, although the H atoms attached to water mol-ecules could not be located, short O-O contacts clearly indicate the occurrence of an intricate hydrogen-bonded network through contacts with other water mol-ecules, Cs cations or with the O atoms of the dipicolinate ligands.

Project description:In the dinuclear title complex, [Fe(2)(OH)(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O, the two Fe atoms are separated by 3.063 (1) Å. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form an extensive three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network, which consolidates the crystal packing.
