ABSTRACT: The title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(11)H(15)N(3)O(2)Si)(2)]·C(3)H(7)NO, was synthesized from 5-nitro-1-trimethyl-silylmethyl-1H-benzimid-azole and cobalt(II) chloride in dimethyl-formamide. The Co(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral environment by two Cl atoms and two N atoms. In the crystal structure, there are a number of C-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between symmetry-related mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title complex, [CoCl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·C(3)H(7)NO, which has twofold rotation symmetry, the Co(II) cation is coordinated by two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) mol-ecules and two chloride ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, a cavity is created by six complex mol-ecules connected by C-H?? inter-actions and non-classical C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The cavities are occupied by the disordered dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule. The C and N atoms of the C-N bond in the solvent mol-ecule also lie on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis; the remaining atoms of the solvent are statistically disordered (ratio 0.5:0.5) about this axis.

Project description:In the title compound, [CdBr(2)(C(30)H(26)N(4)S)]·C(3)H(7)NO, both the complex and solvent mol-ecule lie on a crystallographic mirror plane. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated in a disorted square-pyramidal CdBr(2)N(2)S environment with one of the Br atoms in the apical site. In the crystal structure, the benzimidazole ring systems are involved in weak inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.606?(2) and 3.753?(2)?Å]. Further stabilization is provided by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The methyl H atoms of the dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule are disordered about a mirror plane.

Two Cl(-) anions are also bonded directly to the Co(II) atom, which has a CoN(2)Cl(2) chromophore in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit are related by an approximate twofold rotation roughly parallel to the a axis. Project description:The monomeric title zirconium(IV) compound, [Zr(C(12)H(21)N(2)Si)(2)Cl(2)], was prepared by the metathetical reaction of [LiN(SiMe(2)NMe(2))(2,6-Me(2)C(6)H(3))](2) with zirconium tetra-chloride. The Zr(IV) atom is N,N'-chelated by the N-silylated anilido ligand. Along with two Cl atoms, the six-coordinated Zr(IV) atom demonstrates a highly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The two ligands around the Zr(IV) atom are arranged cis to each other and obey the C(2) symmetry operation. That means the asymmetric unit consists of only half of the mol-ecular compound and the complete mol-ecule is generated by a twofold axis. The two ends of the N-Si-N chelating unit exhibit different affinities for the metal center. The Zr-N(amino) bond is longer than the Zr-N(anilido) bond.

Project description:The centrosymmetric mol-ecule of the title complex, [Cd(4)Cl(8)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(6)(C(3)H(7)NO)(2)], contains four Cd(II) atoms, six imidazole, two dimethyl-formamide and eight chloride ligands. The structure shows a novel chloride-bridged tetra-nuclear cadmium quasi-cubane cluster. The coordination geometry of all Cd(II) atoms is distorted octa-hedral, with the two metal atoms in the asymmetric unit in different coordination environments. One of the Cd(2+) ions is coordinated by five Cl(-) ions and by one N atom from an imidazole ligand, while the second is coordinated by three chloride ligands, two N atoms from two imidazole ligands and one O atom from a dimethyl-formamide mol-ecule. Inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to the ab plane.
