Calcium signaling is essential for the differentiation of many cell types, including skeletal muscle cells, but its mechanisms remain elusive. Here we demonstrate a crucial role for nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NAADP) signaling in skeletal muscle differentiation.
