ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecular salt, NH(4) (+)·C(10)H(14)BrO(4)S(-), the norbornane skeleton of the anion is composed of two five-membered rings in envelope conformations and a six-membered ring with one Br atom, one carbonyl O atom and a methyl group held in a boat conformation by a bridging methyl-ene group. Short intra-molecular C-H?O and C-H?Br inter-actions occur. In the crystal, the component ions are linked by inter-molecular N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:Electro-oxidation of tetra-methyl-tetra-thia-fulvalene (TMTTF) in the presence of the chiral anion (1S)-camphor-10-sulfonate (S-camphSO3 (-)) in tetra-hydro-furan/water medium afforded a 1/1 salt formulated as TMTTF·S-camphSO3·2H2O or 2-(4,5-dimethyl-1,3-di-thiol-2-yl-idene)-4,5-dimethyl-1,3-di-thiole radical ion (1+) [(1S)-7,7-dimethyl-2-oxobi-cyclo-[2.2.1]heptan-1-yl]methane-sulfonate dihydrate, C10H12S4 (+)·C10H15O4S(-)·2H2O. In this salt, two independent TMTTF units are present but, in both cases, the observed bond lengths and especially the central C=C distance [1.392 (6) and 1.378 (6) Å] are in agreement with a complete oxidation of TMTTF which is thus present as TMTTF (.) (+) radical cations. These cations form one-dimensional stacks in which they are associated two by two, forming dimers with short [3.472 (1) to 3.554 (2) Å] S⋯S contacts. The two S-camphSO3 anions present also form stacks and are connected with each other via the water mol-ecules with many O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds ranging from 1.86 (3) to 2.15 (4) Å; the O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding network can be described as being constituted of C 2 (2)(6) chains bearing R 3 (3)(11) lateral rings. On the other hand, the columns of cations and anions are connected through C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a system expanding in three directions; finally, the result is a three-dimensional network of O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(3)H(5)N(2) (+)·C(10)H(15)O(4)S(-), comprises two crystallographically independent ion pairs (A and B) in the asymmetric unit with slightly different conformations due to the disordered methyl groups in the anion of molecule A. Two intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds generate S(6) ring motifs. In mol-ecule A, the methyl groups are disordered over two sets of positions with a site-ocuppancy ratio of 0.547?(9):0.453?(9). Extensive inter-molecular N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions occur in the crystal structure which link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional network parallel to the (100) plane.

Project description:The structure of the title complex, [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](C(10)H(15)O(4)S)(2), consists of regular octa-hedral [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cations and d-camphor-10-sulfonate anions. A three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture is formed via hydrogen-bond inter-actions [O-H?O = 2.723?(2)-2.833?(2)?Å] to give alternating layers of [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cations and d-camphor-10-sulfonate anions. The title compound is isomorphous with the zinc, copper, cadmium and nickel analogues.

Diisopropyl-ammonium methane-sulfonate.

Project description:The title molecular salt, C(6)H(16)N(+)·CH(3)SO(3) (-), has been determined at 150?K. Two diisopropyl-ammonium cations (dipH) and two anions form N-H?O hydrogen-bonded cyclic dimers lying around centers of symmetry. Only two of the three O atoms of the methane-sulfonate anion are involved in hydrogen bonding, resulting in slightly longer S-O bond lengths. The title structure represents an example of a sulfonate anion that is part of a hydrogen-bonding R(4) (4)(12) graph-set motif, which is well known for related dipH acetates. Additionally, the Raman and the IR spectroscopic data for the title compound are presented.

Project description:The title compound 1-OPBB, C(19)H(19)BrO(2), contains a dechlorinated and hydrogenated isodrin backbone with an anti-4-bromo-benzoate substituent at one of the methano bridges. The dihedral angle between the CO(2) ester plane and the benzene ring plane is 8.5?(2)°. In the crystal, the ester groups stack over benzene rings: the mol-ecules pack as conformational enanti-omers, with nearest parallel benzene ring planes separated by a perpendicular distance of 3.339?(1)?Å. The nearest benzene-ring centroids are 5.266?(1)?Å apart. Possible structural correlation with enhanced solvolytic reactivity is investigated.

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, NH(4) (+)·C(7)H(7)O(4)S(-), is featureless [the methoxy C atom deviating 0.173?(6)?Å from the phenyl mean plane] with inter-atomic distances and angles in the expected ranges. The main feature of inter-est is the packing mode. Hydro-philic (SO(3) and NH(4)) and hydro-phobic (PhOCH(3)) parts in the structure segregate, the former inter-acting through a dense hydrogen-bonding scheme, leading to a well connected two-dimensional structure parallel to (100) and the latter hydro-phobic groups acting as spacers for an inter-planar separation of c/2 = 10.205?(2)?Å. In spite of being aligned along [110], the benzene rings stack in a far from parallel fashion [viz. consecutive ring centers determine a broken line with a 164.72?(12)° zigzag angle], thus preventing any possible ?-? inter-action.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(17)ClNO(2)S(+)·C(10)H(15)O(4)S(-)·C(3)H(6)O, was synthesized by N-alkyl-ation of ?-amino-(2-chloro-phen-yl)acetate with 2-thienylethyl p-toluene-sulfonate, followed by reaction with (+)-camphor-10-sulfonic acid. In the crystal, the cations and anions are linked through N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The thio-phene ring of the cation was found to be disordered over two sites, with refined occupancies of 0.798?(4) and 0.202?(4).

Project description:The title compound, Na(+)·C5H11O8S(-) [systematic name: sodium (1S,2S,3S,4R)-1,2,3,4,5-penta-hydroxy-pentane-1-sulfonate], is formed by reaction of d-lyxose with sodium bis-ulfite (sodium hydrogen sulfite) in water. The anion has an open-chain structure in which one of the oxygen atoms of the sulfonate residue, the S atom, the C atoms of the sugar chain and the O atom of the hy-droxy-methyl group form an essentially planar zigzag chain with the corresponding torsion angles lying between 179.80?(11) and 167.74?(14)°. A three-dimensional bonding network exists in the crystal structure involving hexa-coordination of sodium ions by O atoms, three of which are provided by a single d-lyxose-sulfonate unit and the other three by two sulfonate groups and one hy-droxy-methyl group, each from separate units of the adduct. Extensive inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding supplements this bonding network.

A three-dimensional bonding network exists in the crystal structure involving coordination of two crystallographically independent potassium ions by O atoms (one cation being hexa- and the other octa-coordinate, with each lying on a twofold rotation axis), and extensive inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.
