(R)-[1-(2-Chloro-phen-yl)-2-meth-oxy-2-oxoeth-yl][2-(thio-phen-2-yl)eth-yl]ammonium (+)-camphor-10-sulfonate acetone monosolvate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(15)H(17)ClNO(2)S(+)·C(10)H(15)O(4)S(-)·C(3)H(6)O, was synthesized by N-alkyl-ation of ?-amino-(2-chloro-phen-yl)acetate with 2-thienylethyl p-toluene-sulfonate, followed by reaction with (+)-camphor-10-sulfonic acid. In the crystal, the cations and anions are linked through N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The thio-phene ring of the cation was found to be disordered over two sites, with refined occupancies of 0.798?(4) and 0.202?(4).

An additional N-H?O=C hydrogen bond to the acetone solvent mol-ecule and some weak C-H?? inter-actions reinforce the crystal structure.

The metal atom shows a distorted square-planar coordination environment, with a P-Pt-P angle of 172.41?(3)° as the most prominent feature. Both isopropyl fragments were treated as disordered over two conformations with occupancy ratios of 0.55?(2):0.45?(2) and 0.58?(2):0.42?(2). The solvent mol-ecule was also disordered over two orientations in a 1:1 ratio. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with a twin component of 32.4%.

The metal atom shows a distorted square-planar coordination environment with selected important geometrical parameters of Rh-P = 2.3237 (6) and 2.3253 (6) Å, Rh-Cl = 2.3724 (6) Å, Rh-C = 1.802 (2) Å, P-Rh-P = 173.42 (2)° and Cl-Rh-C = 179.13 (7)°. Effective cone angles for the two P atoms are 165 and 161°, respectively. Both isopropyl groups and the acetone mol-ecule are disordered with occupancy values of 0.523 (5):0.477 (5), 0.554 (8):0.446 (8) and 0.735 (4):0.265 (4), respectively. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl contacts.

Project description:The title compound, C22H20Br2N2S, was synthesized under solvent-free conditions. The mol-ecule shows crystallographic C 2 symmetry, with the S atom of the central thio-phene ring lying on a twofold rotation axis. Furthermore, as a consequence of the (S,S) stereochemistry, the mol-ecule has a twisted conformation. The dihedral angle between the thio-phene and benzene rings is 72.7 (2)° and that between the two benzene rings is 55.9 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are arranged in a chevron-like pattern, without any significant inter-molecular inter-actions.
